...they asked whether the suggested policies affirmed those who, for confessional and biblical reasons, do not agree with the new policies as the assembly actions stated; whether there's a place in the suggested changes that address a bishop's own conscience regarding professional leaders in same-gender relationships; whether forms will indicate if a candidate is in a same-gender relationship and how the church will know if a relationship has ended; how candidates on unofficial "extraordinary rosters" may enter the ELCA's process; and what "publicly accountable" means.
Ultimately "publicly accountable" will be construed to mean "we need a liturgical rite for same sex unions."

Is it not pathetic when a man made organization's policies are elevated over the Word of God. It reminds me of Jesus’ rebuke of the Jewish leaders when he said that they elevated the traditions of men over the Scriptures. You would think that a so-called Christian denomination would feel accountable to God first and foremost. As Jesus said to Peter, Get behind me Satan, for you are thinking the things of men and not the things of God. The ELCA is truly from top to bottom an assembly of the wicked.

I know that the ELCA will be drafting policies to allow for ordaining “partnered” gaysbians. But will they also be drafting ELCA-wide policies to allow pastors to “bless” same-sex “unions” and “marriages”?
Most of my friends who are in my former ELCA congregation (except for the few who are traditionalists) are SO complacent, believing that they have it made as Christians because of their “great”, “caring” (ultraliberal) congregation. It does them or me no good to say otherwise—they know where I stand about feminist language and gaydom anyway, and that I believe that the Orthodox Church is our true home.
All I can do is to love, pray, and invite them to my Orthodox parishes’ worship and festivals. It is the Holy Spirit who brings people to repentance/conversion, not me.
