In our American society, what a person finds important, of value, is vitally connected to what ones society finds important. The safety of a nation is surely related to what it values. Good and healthy values maintain the existence of a nation. Our UNALIENABLE RIGHTS. . . Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness are in jeopardy. They are not to be transferred to a new owner. Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34).
As our nation abandons its historic healthy foundation, it will be unable to survive the tests of rightness and reality. It is only solid ground that offers support to the good and bad. A nation that has little or no place for moral rightness, traditional family structure, etc. cannot last. It is within a healthy society that things not so healthy and even worse can exist and have a place and hope for a good recovery. As we are indifferent to and even vote for the losing of healthy values then we are left with unhealthy values. Such unhealthy conditions are like the flea finding no good home in the dead cat.

I value the fact that God knows more than me...
that’s a good start...
God has more stuff - like the whole universe ...
that he cared enough to send his very best.
And I’m glad that I’m not in charge of things.
agree!
Trust, trust in him alone in Christ's name and the Holy Spirit.
He does not allow the full view because he knows I would claim a glory that does not belong to me.
Oh, how he knows me!
Oh, how I fear the separation of eternal death in hades.
Oh how I look forward to looking back on his fulfilled promises!
Sometimes I value a question that makes sense in English.
My bad.... you got me hater... a slip of the keys.. oh by the way.. do you value what Almighty God values?
The free gift of my salvation. Not a single other thing really matters.
Good question. God values selflessness. It’s difficult to emulate.
Cell Phone vs. Bible
I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our
cell phones?
What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we used it to receive messages?
What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?
What if we gave it to kids as gifts?
What if we used it as we traveled?
What if we used it in case of an emergency?
What if we upgraded it to get the latest version?
This is something to make you go, hmmm, where is my Bible?
Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cellphones, we dont ever have to worry
about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill!
...and there’s an app for everything :-)
Thanks!
The KJV is best for the psalms and stuff like that IMHO. Although I like some others for general reading and study. And after years of trying with my sister, got her “The Message” and she FINALLY “got it”! She said it was just like reading a regular book, and she finally understood what Jesus was about! I have never read “The Message” myself - but it does offer a different way of looking at the same passages in a way that as far as I have heard is true to the gospel but easier for some folks to understand. I must say whenever I do hear someone read from it I almost always go “Hmmmm - now that’s an interesting way of putting it”.
I keep my Message version handy for working my way through passages that can be difficult, even in the NIV, my study version. I'll read it in the Message, think it through, and then go back and read it again in the NIV.
I agree about the psalms though. They almost have to be in KJV. Have you ever heard psalm 23 in ESV or NIV? It means the same but all the poetry is gone.
I really have to disagree with you. We all know of course that God didn't speak to us in 17th century English so of course no one would argue that the English of 400 years ago is "inspired" or more holy.
The thing is to have several versions, and cross check between them. It's pretty cool to have access to Greek and Hebrew reference material too. Oh, to be fluent in both so as to read the original manuscripts!
I would wish that someone be grounded in the bible before reading it, because of course by neccessity, there has to be some poetic license. Dialogue must be generated, characters clothed and fleshed out, etc. It is not scripture but it's a wonderful companion and a real eye-opener.
But, if someone absolutely refused to try to read the bible becasue "it's so confusing, disconnected and boring!" I'd try to get them to read this book.
I'm reading it again because I'm having a "dry spell", sort of a spiritual block to my bible study right now. "The Book of God" a real joy and an encouragement for me to get back into the the Word.
I am not a KJV only freek as some are. I like the New KJV also
