Health-care reform supporters rally Aug. 17 in Phoenix. (CNS)

At 5 p.m. Eastern time today, President Barack Obama will participate in a BlogTalkRadio discussion about his health-care reform plans. The discussion is sponsored by faith-based groups who back reform.

The meeting is sponsored by “40 Days for Health Reform,” a group organized by more than 30 religious organizations to support Obama’s reform initiative. Three Catholic organizations are listed on the “40 Days for Health Reform” website as sponsors: Network — A National Catholic Social Justice Lobby; Catholics United; and Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good.

Along with those three organizations, the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas is listed as a sponsor of today’s “40 Minutes for Health Reform” BlogTalkRadio event with Obama.

I have secured an invitation to participate in the event, and I will report later today about what was discussed. Go here for information about how to listen in to the discussion.

Faith groups need to heed: Thou shall not covet thy neighbors’ goods. There is no exemption if these goods are to provide for health care.
They also need to remember that there is but one God and that government should not be looked to as God. People should not look to the government to meet their needs and solve their problems.

I know that Catholics United is the new name for
Catholics for a Free Choice.

But I am not finding any of these names on Our Lady’s Warriors, the site I usually visit for verification of dissenting groups.

It’s looking that Pope Benedict’s inspectors might be looking forward to interviewing Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.

Has anyone ever heard of that order?

If my Rabbi starts talking Health care from the Bimah (pulpit) I will quit my Temple. Politics and Religion do not mix.

From what I can discern all Obortion has faith in is Marxism and Humanism.

Doesn't say much, IMO, for the "faith-based groups" who support his take over of the health care industry, and thereby installing a permanent Big Brother government.

What is the purpose of this? To instruct the preachers preach Health Insurance Reform from the pulpit and to make the parishoners more receptive to the sermon?

Aha, I hit paydirt on the word, NETWORK!! Read this -- these groups are dissenting Catholic groups!

Leadership Conference of Women Religious

Feminist led group of religious sisters. They promote dissent against Vatican decrees regarding other dissenters such as Sr. Jeannine Gramick. They whine about the "patriarchy" in the Church, embrace creation spirituality, and demand "gender-equality," such as women priests (as evidenced by then-head Sr. Theresa Kane chiding the Pope during his 1979 visit to the USA).  In addition, they spend time in politics lobbying Congress and promote United Nations secular initiatives such as the Earth Charter (consistent with eco-feminism) and International Criminal Court (along with the NETWORK organization).

NETWORK

A group, billing itself as a Catholic Social Justice Lobby, was founded by several feminist nuns, including Sr. Carol Coston, O.P., in 1971. They promote eco-feminism as well as socialism and marxist concepts. According to Coston, their staff have developed their own feminist "rituals" for office events, legislative seminars and "eucharistic celebrations." For a so-called social justice group, they are amazingly silent on the social injustice of abortion and euthansia. They present at Call To Action events and are recommended by Call To Action.

JUST IN ...
Democrats, realizing the success of the President’s “Cash For Clunkers” rebate program, have revamped a major portion of their National Health Care Plan.
President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Sen. Reed are expected to make this major announcement at a joint news conference later this week. I have obtained an advanced copy of the proposal which is named....

“CASH FOR CODGERS” and it works like this... Couples wishing to access health care funds in order to pay for the delivery of a child will be required to turn in one old person. The amount the government grants them will be fixed according to a sliding scale. Older and more prescription dependent codgers will garner the highest amounts.

Special “Bonuses” will be paid for those submitting codgers in targeted groups, such as smokers, alcohol drinkers, persons 10 pounds over their government prescribed weight, and any member of the Republican Party.
Smaller bonuses will be given for codgers who consume beef, soda, fried foods, potato chips, lattes, whole milk, dairy products, bacon, Brussel sprouts, or Girl Scout Cookies.

All codgers will be rendered totally useless via toxic injection. This will insure that they are not secretly resold or their body parts harvested to keep other codgers in repair.
Remember you heard it here first...

“40 Days for Health Reform,”

This appears to be a blatant mockery of the "40 Days of Prayer" programs to end abortion.

Gawd...the left. Creates nothing, steals or conterfiets everything.

I wonder if they are going to revise the Parable of the Good Samaritan - instead of the Samaritan using his own money to pay the innkeeper to take care of the victim, he extorts money from other travelers, intimidates the innkeeper to reduce his price by 40%, then uses the left over money to buy luxuries for the remainder of his trip.
