And who was this Mulek? According The Maxwell Institute, a wholly owned subsidiary of BYU, he probably is the same as the Malchijah or Machiyah of Jeremiah 38:6.
After arguing that “son of the king” could mean only a “royal personage” the authors say because of context here it here it meant literally “son” although Jeremiah 39:6 says all of Zedekiah's “sons and noblemen” were killed before Zedekiah before he was blinded.

How does Machiyah become Mulek? With a simple slash key.

“So was Mulek the “Malkiyahu the son of the king” mentioned in Jeremiah 38:6? Nothing in the Bible or the Book of Mormon negates this identification.

And the evidence rehearsed above lends significant support to it. The m-l-k basis of both Hebrew names is clear, and the case of Berekhyahu/Baruch demonstrates that there is theoretical precedent for a person being called both Malkiyahu and Mulek—the one a longer, more formal version of the name with a theophoric yahu element, and the other a shorter form lacking that element but featuring a different vowel vocalization.”

although Jeremiah 39:6 says all of Zedekiah's “sons and noblemen” were killed before Zedekiah before he was blinded.

Just a minor glitch...later revelation takes care of that little detail.
