Daniel 3

14Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?

15Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

17If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

18But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Dear Heavenly Father Last November, America voted for change. She got insanity. Right is wrong and wrong is right with this adminstration. It embraces our enemies and disrespects our allies. It spends money to get out of debt. And it supports scientifically unsound abominations in the name of "scientific honesty." This adminstration was designed to destroy this country, many of us are convinced, and it is doing a good job of it. We pray that You would intervene.

Lord, I know there are repercussions to our national actions. And, I wouldn't stop You from teaching that lesson. It needs to be learned. But, in Your anger remember Your children who tried to adhere to biblical principles and who stand for them today. Remember those who cherish Your name and the country You gave us. Protect us from the evil they mean for us. Let Your gospel flourish even as America is crashing all around us. Let Your people be as the children of Israel in Babylon, who would not bow to the king's idols, nor eat strange meat. Lord, help us to be Christians even in a world that hates Christ. And may others be converted even as we stand for truth.

It's in Jesus name that I pray these things, Amen.

May I take a line from your appeal and repeat it as its own prayer? It is one I find myself saying and sharing more frequently.

Dear Heavenly Father: Let Your gospel flourish even as America is crashing all around us.

God, even in this difficult place, You have treasures for me here. You will give me the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that I may know that You are the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons me by name (Isa 45:3). You want me to discover the riches of relationship with You that will set me free from this place. You have not run away from being my Shepherd. I know You have not desired the day of despair. What passes my lips is open before You (Jer 17:16). Therefore, hope does not disappoint me, Lord, because You have poured out Your love into my heart by the Holy Spirit whom You have given me (Rom 5:5). In Jesus name, I pray, Amen

Lord, I thank You that in this time, You are always faithful to hear our supplications and write Your desires on our hearts. Even in this time, You continue to stir up compassion in us as the seed planted in us continues to bear fruit. I thank You that you are the Gardener that has used my offering to You as a field to be worked. I extend this nation to you and ask that you thoroughly weed it of tares so that Your abundant harvest will be without blemish.

Your word says, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” I ask Father that you extend Your compassion to those young minds in Washington D.C. who have been afforded the opportunity to attend righteous schools through the voucher program. Do not let this blessing fall by the wayside, but let this be the start of even more poor disadvantaged children to get to know Your principles in their daily lessons. Lord, I lift these young minds to You, and I pray for Your generous blessings upon them that they would learn to know the height and depth of Your eternal love for them. Bring even more into the fold and afford them the same opportunities to learn as their richer peers. Bring our education system back into its rightful place - an extention of Your Glory. I pray this in the most precious name of Christ, Lord Jesus. Amen.
