Pray for President Bush -- Day 3046
1/15/09 | Hiskid

Posted on 01/15/2009 8:12:17 AM PST by Hiskid

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13, 14

TOPICS: Prayer; Religion & Politics
KEYWORDS: bush; pray; troops
Glorious Father, we have gathered this day to honor and worship You. We gather because we know You are the ever-living God Who hears and answers prayer. We gather agreed on our trust in You and Your goodness and kindness. We gather because we love You because You first loved us.

We lift up to You with thanksgiving a man who has served You and us for eight years. We have been so grateful to You, Father, for the many things he has done in Your will, and for the strength Your Spirit has given him to “stay the course” in the face of immeasurable opposition. This is merely the end of an era for him and us, so we pray for guidance for the assignments you have for his future. Guide him clearly in Your perfect will. Help him and his family make the adjustments to a different lifestyle and more time together. Let Your love reign. We also ask that Your peace would allow him to cast the cares of our country on You. For those things he no longer has control over, help him yield his concerns to You. We trust that You will show him ways in which he can still affect Your perfect direction for us.

We continue in prayer for our troops, believing that You are answering our petitions by guiding, protecting and revealing hidden dangers to each one. Let Your Word have free course among them and their families at home. Prince of Peace, reign in their hearts.

This current assignment to pray for President Bush as our President is coming to an end. I know that I personally am so very grateful for this place of prayer and the wonderful, faithful warriors who gather here. I give You glory, Sir, for the eternal relationships that have been established.

And so, we move on with You. Your command to pray for those in authority is not limited by the person in authority. We commit to press on in obedience to Your call for intercession, knowing You are at work for our good in the end.

We thank You for answering our prayers in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, the tears still flow as we view the Passing of the Guard, for by the Holy Spirit that dwells therein, we see the dangers that lie ahead and are not comforted by those who will be in authority over us. May the fervent prayers that have been presented before the Throne of Grace for our beloved President and First Lady now become fervent prayers for this new Administration.

We seek change, O Lord ... change for President Bush and his family as they again become private citizens. Grace their days with wondrous times with their parents and their children, family and friends ... time to relax and enjoy, time to meditate and draw even closer to You. May their leave-taking be filled with an unshakable perception that they have tenderly been watched over by millions before the Throne of Grace ... may they go in peace and continue in safety.

Bring change to this Administration, Father God, and to the people calling out for “change.” Give them what they don't request ... a change of heart. Give them a glimpse of the Heavenly Realm and the heart knowledge that sinful man cannot enter therein. Let the strong voice of the Body of Christ be heard throughout the land, for it is only the Presence of the Holy Spirit in the Believer that holds the enemy at bay.

And may it be, Merciful Father, that the return of our troops will not come before an absolute, complete victory. Let every waiting household continue to pray for a safe, victorious return. We pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, beloved City of God, that we might receive blessing for standing with Your chosen ones.

Unto You, O Lord, we bring our burdens. “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22.

Unto You, O Lord, we bring our Praise and Thanksgiving.

Psalm 107

1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say this—
those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,

3 those he gathered from the lands,
from east and west, from north and south.

Amen and Amen ...

Amen to wonderfully inspired prayers.

Heavenly Father, bless this President for all he has done to keep us safe. We also praise our warriors for their honor, sacrifice and bravery in fighting for not only our freedom, but the freedom of others throughout the world.

This, Your “one nation, under God” was established in freedom. Some have abused that freedom. Some have taken freedoms away from others undeservedly. However, our individual right to freedom comes from You.

Your saints are here, and spread throughout this land, to fight for our freedom to worship You, and to help others in their battle against tyranny.

Kings and kingdoms will all pass away, but Your Kingdom will last forever.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful prayer, Pegita. Yes, Lord. May every "change" be the change brought about by a contrite heart. Be merciful to us, Father, for we long for a nation that honors You alone. Make each of us instruments of Your peace and show us how we may labor to expand Your Kingdom.

It’s In God’s Word
I will run the course of Your commandments, for You shall enlarge my heart. —Psalm 119:32

As optimistic as I am (I can find a bright side to just about everything), I also know that life can be a dark and lonely place.

I’ve talked to teenagers who have a parent whose anger makes just going home after school a dreaded trip.

I’ve known people who can’t escape the curtain of depression.

I’ve spent considerable time with others who, like my wife and me, are enduring life with the sudden death of a child.

I’ve seen what relentless poverty can do to people all over the world.

Despite knowing that these scenarios exist, I don’t despair. I know that hope is available in Jesus, that guidance comes through the Spirit, and that knowledge and power are found in God’s Word.

The words of Psalm 119 give us encouragement. When our soul “clings to the dust,” we can be revived according to God’s Word (v.25). When our soul is full of sorrow, we can be strengthened by His Word (v.28). When we are threatened by deceit, we can follow the truth of His Word (vv.29-30). Our heart can be set free by God’s commands (v.32).

Are life’s demands overwhelming you? If so, you can find hope, guidance, and knowledge to help. It’s in God’s Word.

If your soul is parched and thirsty
And you feel weighed down by care,
Go to God’s Word for refreshment—
You’ll find strength and comfort there. —Sper

A well-read Bible makes a well-fed soul.

My son, George, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands;

For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you.

Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart,

And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him, George Bush, And He shall direct your paths. ~~~Proverbs 3 1-6

I pray this in the Name of My Saviour and Lord , Jesus Christ, amen.

Thank you for your servanthood in faithful prayer for our President, his family, our troops and our country. It has been a blessing and an honor to come to pray with you all.

I agree with your prayers with a bowed head and heart and say amen to the King of Kings, Jesus !

~ PRAYER ~

St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle
 Be our protection against the wickedness
and snares of the devil;
May God rebuke him, we  humbly pray,
 and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
 by the power of God,
 Thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits
who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls.
 Amen
