I had to stop reading right there.
Alex, I cannot agree with you more.
A “truth” discovered 19 centuries after the fact is at least suspect.
Dispensational teaching came from John Nelson Darby, the same who decided there would be a Pre-Trib Rapture. My great grandfather, in England, was contemporary with and a follower of Darby and his teachings. Scofield was a “student” of Darby’s writings and much of Scofield’s Reference Notes are based on Darby’s writings/teachings.
Neither Dispensationalism nor Pre-Trib Rapture is supported by God’s Word, either Old or New Testament. Rapture, btw, is a word not to be found in any Bible translation that I have read or searched.
Dispensationalism and Fundamentalism have become almost synonymous in today’s escatology dynamics. Too bad it is so difficult to accept what God says in His Word - it seems we have to depend on what men think and write.
Daniel’s 70th week is an example of trying to make Daniel and Revelation agree in lockstep. Most Biblical “scholars” agree that Daniel’s 69th week ended when Jesus was baptised by John. There is no indication in Daniel that there is a break between the 69th and 70th weeks, but “theologians” want to put one there. The 70th week, cut short after 3 1/2 years, was Jesus’ earthly ministry following his baptism by John. It has nothing to do with Tribulation or what it says in Revelation about the beast/antichrist.
