SNIP...
City officials are preparing for the opening of an LDS temple by considering the implementation of "free speech zones" here. The Draper temple won't be open to the public until mid-January, but the city is trying to be prepared for any situation that may arise, said Draper Mayor Darrell Smith.
The City Council is set to consider on Tuesday an ordinance that would allow for the creation of the zones. If the ordinance passes, the city manager could set up a map designating allowed protest areas. The zones could be set up for any city event but the ordinance was drafted specifically in preparation for the temple opening, according to a draft copy released Wednesday.
The issue strikes a nerve with Salt Lake City-based civil rights attorney Brian Barnard, who has called the proposed ordinance clearly unconstitutional because it seeks to limit protests against The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"Under the First Amendment, the entire country is a free speech zone," he said. "Free speech is supposed to be everywhere government property, all public streets, all public parks those are all free speech zones. Restrictions have to be very limited, very finely tuned."

don’t we have a 1st amendment?
Not if we don't respect the 2nd amendment.

dont we have a 1st amendment?

Draper? Don Draper?
THAT looks like an idea the Obama will borrow.
Will borrow...wrong HAS borrowed.
Vision of things to come.
I’m not sure if you are just jealous that we are doing a better job standing up to the gay agenda than others, or if you hope for gays to win out over over. No matter though.
People have no right to protest on private property contrary to the wishes of the property owners. Every one of you should ask yourself if the gays were coming after your faith the same way and planning to disrupt the dedication of a new place of worship, how would you handle it?
so, you’re opposed to the 1st amendment?
If you want to hold a protest, such as the gay rights groups would do at a major Mormon event, you usually have to apply for a permit. That in itself could be seen as an infringement on the 1st amendment as seen thru the eyes of Salt Lake City-based civil rights attorney Brian Barnard.
But such permits allow those who want to protest to do so without infringing on the rights of those who want to go in peace to see the new temple.
FR has to obtain a permit to conduct its protests at Walter Reed and at all other FReeps it holds in DC. The gay groups should have to obtain permits which would keep them out of the way of those who want merely to visit the temple.
The Harry Truman way.
The "others" certainly must appreciate your downgrading their contributions, and the gays target you because of your publicly boasting of "doing more than others".

The liberal press did a good job of trying to distroy the Catholic Church a while back.
Now it is our turn.
You seem to have a duel and divided will over this.
You seem happy to have the help with prop 8,
Yet
You seem to still need to force everyone out of the LDS Church.
Yep, I congratulate EVERY denomination that worked so hard for this.
Yet
You seem to still need to force everyone out of the LDS Church.
Not "force", Fred, but counter the constant mormon proselytizing and propaganda on FR with the truth and "persuade" others from falling into the trap.
The use of "force" better fits the control held by the leaders over mormon members, for example through the temple recommend requirements, dictating what you wear, read, drink, pay in tithes....think it over.
I have no method by which to en"force" OR "coerce" anything.

People have no right to protest on private property contrary to the wishes of the property owners. [Grig]
The same right that allows pro-lifers to peacefully protest on neighborhood public sidewalks of mass abortionists (they can't just target one home...they need to be moving up & down the street) can't stop with the rights of pro-life protesters.
Every one of you should ask yourself if the gays were coming after your faith the same way... [Grig]
So? (Set up a welcome wagon for free coffee, cocoa, and donuts & bagles for the protesters...especially since January mornings are cold...I mean, I do recall some Scripture somewhere about loving your enemies)
...and planning to disrupt the dedication of a new place of worship, how would you handle it? [Grig]
People with ill intent plan all kinds of things! Bank robbers plan to disrupt bank business [we don't restrict their movement outside of banks before they go in]. Make a checklist of ill-intent acts and then ask yourself, how many of these folks are quarantined in some way prior to their activity (whether that activity is illegal or legal)?

not forced, able to do by own free will.
Not knowing which group you follow, I do not know what your group “forces” on you, yet I know of no religious person who doesn't freely subject himself to the requirements of his religion, the things he is “forced” to do, as you call it.
No rituals, no coercion.....
You guys are now going to destroy the RCC?
Good luck with THAT!
Group think is alive and well...
The words you use do a good job of miss directing thoughts as to the truth about our teachings.
now, you are required, or “forced” as you put it, to do something to enter the “presence of God and His Son”.
What is it?
