Since he hadn't said a word about this issue, and he was originally from Chicago (and the USCCB), I figured he was in the tank for Obama. Other comments on the thread seemed to support that conclusion as well.

I am very pleased to find that I was wrong.

. . . and you know, come to think of it, it took a lot of courage for a man in his position to speak out.

Obama probably thinks of him as a traitor - since he's a brother from Chicago he probably assumed the archbishop would support him or at least keep silent. And it can't be very comfortable to make an enemy of somebody like Obama when he's got a 50/50 chance of being in a position to REALLY make you hurt.
