I need to publicly apologize for characterizing Archbishop Gregory as an Obama supporter who refused to speak out on life issues.

I WAS WRONG.

He names no names, but he is very clear that Life is the paramount issue without which all the stuff that Kmiec and the rest of the Obama supporters have been touting is "of no consequence".

Mea maxima culpa. Western papers please copy.

Hi, NYer, could you please ping the Catholic list?

I'm going to dig up that thread where we were discussing this, and make sure that everybody on it is linked here so that we can make amends for dissing Abp. Gregory.

He's a little late in taking a stand (and he makes a justification for it so he knows he's a little late to the fair), but at least he has come forward and spoken out.

Perhaps the lively exchange of letters between pro-life Catholics and pro-Obama Catholics that has been raging for several weeks in the Bulletin has prompted him to come forward. I believe in diplomatic circles it's called "a full and frank exchange of views," and apparently the Archbishop decided it had gone far enough.

You’re forgiven. Just be more careful in the future. :^)

Well, that’s refreshing! I was wondering how you were doing there with him on this issue, and I’m really glad to see that he came down on the right side of things.

Good better late than never. It’s possible that the example of 50 other bishops, and maybe a few words from his flock, made him think again.

It must be said that the bishops have spoken out this election season as they have never done before. Even the best of them have generally grown quiet this close to an election. But they obviously see that this is absolutely critical this time.

**However, before and prior to all of those vitally important concerns, Faithful Citizenship places the issue of Life itself.**

Glad that Archbishop Wilton Gregory has come out to say that life is the most important issue we face.

Hey, many bishops have stepped up when it comes to presenting the REAL Church teaching on the baby butchery issue, it seems like many more than ever before. Which is GREAT.

But the vast, vast majority don’t seem to use discipline to teach this simple rule : that being into baby butchery gets one nixed from the Church. And it’s shameful.

I need to publicly apologize for characterizing Archbishop Gregory as an Obama supporter who refused to speak out on life issues.

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone", John 8:7.

Many of us are equally guilty of lambasting priests and bishops, thus placing ourselves in the 'judgement' seat. That is why the Catholic Church is like a hospital for sinners. We thank our Lord for bestowing on us the Sacrament of Confession where our souls may be cleansed from these sins.

Just returned from Mass!

Lots of prayers said for the sanctity of life, and for the direction this country is about to go.

With that said, with people like you leading the way I know we will prevail. I am heartened by your humility.

Have a blessed All Saint's Day and All Soul's Day.

You know, I am so proud of our bishops. They have really stepped up. It’s like they finally clued in and realized that there are horrific consequences to the cause of life should Obama win. I was gripping about our pastor not stepping up, and the next day he announced that our parish would be participating in Fr. Corapi’s novena. I am inspired by them stepping up and the Catholic swing towards life in this election.
