This year Diwali, or the Festival of Lights, falls on October 28, and for the occasion, Cardinal Tauran has penned a message in English entitled, "Christians and Hindus: Together in Favor of Non-violence"....The cardinal closed his letter for Diwali with an appeal to Hindus to help Christians “do all we can to promote the sacredness of human life, the good of the poor and lowly in our midst and collaborate, through dialogue, to foster the dignity of the human person regardless of race or caste, creed or class.”

Clearly, the cardinal is unfamiliar with (or unwilling to acknowledge) what happens under the Hindu caste system.

The only time Nonviolence is successful is when it moves an oppressor to a human response or another party to intercede on behalf of the oppressed. If neither exist those who practice Nonviolence will see the same fate as the protesters at Tiananmen Square.

I really wish these minor prelates would avoid embarrassing themselves and the church with these meaningless proclamations.
