You said — “You were told to get more reliable sources. My reliable source is the Bible.”

I hope you were directing this post to TaraP and not to me. I was the one who told her to use more reliable sources (and that would be the Bible, certainly...).

I thought I read somewhere that there is a dispute with the 666 thing. Some say it was a mistranslation and it should actually be 616.

So, you’re saying everyone who believes in the Bible is stupid. That’s how I take it.

Not at all. I believe in the Bible.

And I do remember Jerry Falwell said he believed the anti-christ was already here. Of course now I’ll expect you to slam Falwell.

I knew Jerry personally - I went to his college. Good man. He was wrong.

If you don’t think we’re headed for one world government, man, where have you been? This started with Bush Number One.

OK.

Critical thinking? In other words, if I don’t agree with you I’m not into “critical thinking”. Sounds like a liberal.

Whatever you say. You're the one who said, "I don't doubt what this guy says." That's unhealthy.

NO..You are incorrect...The only generation to see those things come to life...Is the Generation to see *Israel* become a nation..1948. Before that no generation could possibly understand biblical prophecy as far as the return of Jesus.....

Look, I don't mean to pick a fight here, it was a funny comment that someone made about the Cubs having to win the world series.

Just for what it's worth, and why I was making a bit of fun, is that The Bible isn't quite so clear about the end times as you might suppose. There are huge differences in interpretation on this topic, and hundreds of these dates have come and gone in the past 2000 years. Jesus said he didn't even know, so how is this guy supposed to give us 2012 as a definitive date?

You’re using global warming as part of your argument? Now I know this thread has gone off the deep end.

The article does state End Time Events from the Bible...

They are not from the Koran or Harry Potter my friend...

Israel was already a nation at that time; there was no need for it to "become" a nation. On the contrary, the prophecies were all about the destruction of that nation and the destruction of the temple, resulting in the final end of the Old Covenant sacrificial system. It already happened; I'm amazed that everyone thinks it all needs to happen again.

After calling on Jesus during a heart attack and having a wonderful experience, I KNOW which source to go to. In fact, when I told a friend what happened he said, “You went straight to the source.”

Sorry if you misunderstood.

I don’t think the paperwork for a 1 world government could clear by 2012. I mean has the EU ratified their constitution yet?

Oh that's much better.

So you're saying that climate has never changed until now, and the fact (?) that it's changing now means the world is coming to an end? Do you have absolutely no historical perspective whatsoever? Are you not aware of anything that happened before you were born? Have you not heard of the little ice age, the Medieval Warm Period, or anything else that people have taken as signs of the end for the last 2,000 years? Do you have any reason to think that our times are exceptional in any way?

Read the Bible then you will understand.

Yeah, because this thread needs more condescension. For the record I'm not a theologian or a pastor, but I do have a degree in Religion from Liberty University. I happen to disagree with their eschatological views, but it's a great school.

How can you possibly KNOW Falwell was wrong?

All I’m saying is, this may not be the end times the Bible talks about, but there are things happening that convince me there’s not much time left of this world. A nuclear war with bombs going off all over the place would destroy the earth and all living things on it. For all I know, a nuclear war could be what John was writing about in Revelation.

The Apostle John said in 1 John 2:18-19, “Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the anti-christ is coming, even now many anti-christs have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.”

In other words, we have been in the “last times” since 33 a.d. Many times in the past people have thought that “they” were living in the last days and that Arraggedon was right around the corner. Now, don’t get me wrong. I do believe all those things are going to happen. I do think the restoration of the nation of Israel in 1948 was a cruical mile-stone that we are getting closer all the time to the end. But, the truth is, as someone pointed out, even Jesus said that He did not know the day or the hour. If someone starts claiming that they DO know - avoid that person like the plague. They are playing some kind of game - either ego or money (or both).

All of us will face God sooner or later. The point of Jesus’s discussion about the end times was “Are you ready for the judgement?” Are you in right relationship with God? Are you serving Him right now? It doesn’t really matter how long God tarries before the end comes - the question is, “Are you ready?”.

You were saying — “People have been saying exactly that for nearly 2,000 years. But of course you’re much smarter than all those people who had no idea what they were talking about.”

Now, TaraP may be quoting some questionable source here (in the above article) and I certainly wouldn’t rely on it (i.e., that author).

However, having said that — you are coming at the issue of Bible Prophecy from “Preterism”, while I’m coming at it from the Biblical understanding of “Futurism”. People deserve to know, right up front, that you’re going to be denying that any of these prophecies (that many people refer to) are relevant for today and that you consider them to be all done and fulfilled 2,000 years ago (approximately).

I’m clear about that, up front, and maintain the position and Biblical understanding of “Futurism”. People can see and hear a debate from these two “understandings” of the Bible at the following website

http://www.pre-trib.org/

I believe that the Preterist viewpoint of all these Bible prophecies having already been fulfilled and not relevant today — along with the nation of Israel being not prophetically relevant today — either — is totally wrong. People need to know that — up front. I wouldn’t even bother to listen to any Preterist position, any longer, once having understood and having known what they say and how they interpret the Bible — which is “whacked and totally out of shape”.

So, don’t try to sneak in the “back door” to criticize this person for her woefully inadequate “source material” — and (as a result) try to maintain your Preterist position — on the sly.

People simply do not believe what y’all have to say in your Preterist interpretation when they read the Bible plainly and directly for themselves. It doesn’t say or teach what y’all are saying.

[Of course, we’ve already spoken earlier today and I see you’re still commenting on this things that are related and/or relevant to Preterism (and Futurism).]

What this guy is saying is get right with your maker. I don’t see anything wrong with that advice.

I certainly don't see anything wrong with it either as we're probably closer to said prophesied events than most folks think. I just took the opportunity to bash the Obamassiah.

Terry is right..Only today is the world capable of destroying the planet...The Vikings were not capable..
Before 1948 the USA was not capable...The Romans were not capable....

Why do you think Jesus used the term *Birth Pains*?
because those pains come closer and closer together when a woman is about to deliver...I would say we look to be in the 8 or 9 month that is how close I think we are...

Not predicting Jesus’s return, but I think with all the Gloom and doom we see constantly on this planet, we know it won’t be long now that our Lord will come....

He’s not the AC.

He’s NOT slick ENOUGH nor with a CLEAN ENOUGH record.
