Not likely. The next prophetic step of significance will be the War of Magog- I believe we are on the very edge of that war happening.
The result of that war, Israel KNOWING God saved them, Israel cleansing the land, the building of the 3rd temple (necessary to Christ's return), and the prophesied use of the stocks of the enemies weapons as fuel, all suggest a period of peace of seven years or more.
Even if the War of Magog started today, and ended tomorrow, it would not allow for enough peace-time for Armageddon to meet the 2012 date.
Have any of the 7th Seals been opened?
One might consider that the "end times" have been in play since Christ's resurrection- The Apostles said they were living in the end times. The key to where we are in the seals would seem to be Chernobyl (which means "Wormwood")... Even now, it is burrowing deeper toward the aquifer that serves most of Europe.
If it does indeed turn the waters of Europe bitter, one must then work backward to understand the previous seals, knowing that the seals are on a much broader scale than anyone has previously imagined.
Are we the generation that is living like in the: Days of Noah?
I have my own interpretation of that- Considering the point that God felt it necessary to kill every living thing, and that all of creation had become corrupted... and that we are just now figuring out how to make dinosaurs out of chicken embryos... Yes, it is very close to being as it was in the days of Noah.
I dont know when Jesus is coming back, but I do know what he said would happen in the End Times, and the *Last Generation* to see those things happening, sure sounds like *Us*....
"The day that no one knows" is significant to Hebrews- They know it as the Feast of Trumpets. The time, the season, even the very year and day will be known by the end, by those who seek the Lord. It is those who are of the world who will be caught unawares. Those who do not keep His Sabbaths, those who do not seek Him out, read His Word, and KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS will not see it coming.
HA!
Seriously, though, I met a new couple at my church last week... the wife is an Ohio State fan, the husband a Michigan fan. THAT is the real “sign.” < /sarcasm>
Means mugwort, not wormwood.
Sorry!
Except that angels in the Bible say not to do that.
You were saying — “All of it was in the future at the time it was written.”
Not with Revelation being written after 70 AD...
It points to a future time with the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem already having happened, by the time the Apostle John was recounting what Jesus was saying and showing him in Revelation.
Revelation points forward, to the future, when the Temple had already been destroyed.
You said — “One other note about this comment - I notice you don’t castigate anyone else for discussing this topic without saying, “from the Futurist perspective” or a similar disclaimer. Interesting.”
I’m saying that if you put that on your Home Page, that it would be sufficient. Do that and there would be no problem. Heck...! Make your Home Page a virtual library and support for the Preterist viewpoint. That would be fine. :-)
I’m not saying that you have to preface every comment with that phrase, but rather, having some way that people know that this is so. I put it on my Home Page as a way to do that.
If Revelation was written after 70 AD, then Preterism is false. I'm convinced Revelation was written before that, around 64-66 AD. See a book defending this view here; I found it persuasive. But I'll concede that a Preterist viewpoint is completely dependent upon an "early" dating of Revelation.
I may actually do that when I get the time.

Don't get me wrong, your point is taken; I just found it interesting that you didn't say the same to, say, TaraP or Terry Mross, for example.
I’ll download and look at that book that you reference.
A very much shorter explanation (than the book) is this article from Tommy Ice on this very subject (of the dating of the Book of Revelation).
You can see it here...
“The Date of the Book of Revelation”

It may take me a lot longer to look through that book than it will take others to read this short article, though...
The following is an article speaking directly about this book that you referenced...

Some additional reading...

That is partly true, though some would start that date at the capture of the heart of Jerusalem, the Temple Mount (1967). Others suggest that since Israel ceded control of the Temple Mount, the Prophecy sleeps even yet.
I believe 1948 is correct- It can be shown in the Prophecy to be the correct time, though others may take exception.
I agree he’s not been wholesale revealed in any Biblical sense.
Some websites have photos and other hints . . . we shall see.
LOL. Yah but it also sez in the good book that he’ll be a man of fierce countenance.
Obama is not a man of fierce countenance.
Hillary OTOH definitely fits that bill.
Depends on the meaning you attach to the Scape Goat in the ancient Israel prophecies and how you apply those to the current curse that the cubs are under for having thrown the Greek guy and his goat out during game 4 of the world series several years ago.
:)
Same thing: Wikipedia:Mugwort
"Artemisia vulgaris (mugwort or common wormwood) is one of several species in the genus Artemisia with names containing mugwort."
It may not be absinthe wormwood, which I suppose you are referring to, but I would submit that as it is in the same family, and is called "common wormwood", and since nuclear power certainly is comparable to a "star", the comparison is not negligible.
No I don’t mind....:)
Well let me check out your site..
You are a Pre-tribber?
Then why do evil people still exist? why is the planet in turmoil> Why do we still die?
Because people are naturally sinful.
why is the planet in turmoil>
Because God has given us freedom, and because we are by nature sinful.
Why do we still die?
Because that's the way the world works - and always will, as far as I can tell.
In my opinion, most Christians have a false view of the nature of the "second coming." In my view it was quite simply a completion of the transition from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant, of which there will be no end. There's nothing "end-of-the-world-ish" about it.
Most Jews missed their Messiah because He wasn't the kind of Messiah they expected. I think the same happened with the second coming as with the first.
You asked — “You are a Pre-tribber?”
Oh yeah..., pre-mil, pre-trib, dispensational...
I concur.
I suspect things are being set up for the Gog/Magog war and then the Rapture sometime within that period.
FWIW, I’m not as confident that the Rapture occurs on a good footing for the Church within this worldly system.
IMHO, the tribulation of Shadrach, Mishach and Abindigo may have been a type of the worldly system preluding the Rapture, implying the worldly system attempts to round up believers and destroy them say in a large nuke, then they are caught up in the air with our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.
The remaining Great Tribulation would then focus upon chastisement of Israel for their covenant with the AntiChrist, with Him not being fully revealed to the remnant until the middle of the Great Tribulation at the abomination of desolation after the Great Apostasy.
IMHO, His return is imminent, not immediate, but imminent in a fashion like a thief coming in the night where nobody can fully prepare to prevent or adapt to it. The only solution is faith in our blessed hope in Him.
So do you believe in the 2nd Coming?
Jesus said:
in John 14:1-3: Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Fathers house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
I guess you are saying Jesus is no longer concerned with this world because when we die we are finally home..out of this world...
