Workers at the Tyson Foods poultry processing plant in Shelbyville will no longer have a paid day off on Labor Day but will instead be granted the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr.
According to a news release from the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, a new five-year contract at the plant included the change to accommodate Muslim workers at the plant.

Tyson's director of media relations Gary Mickelson said the contract includes eight paid holidays -- the same number as the old contract.
Eid al-Fitr -- which falls on Oct. 1 this year -- marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.
Union leaders said implementing the holiday was important for the nearly 700 Muslims, many of them Somalis, who work at the plant that employs a total of 1,200 people.
Nineteen-year plant veteran William Pentecost doesn’t agree with the decision.
"I don’t think it's right. I really don't think it's right," he said.
Tyson company spokeswoman Libby Lawson said by phone that, "This isn't a religious accommodation, this is a contractual agreement. The majority asked for it."
The change didn’t bother some workers.
"I think it's fine. I don’t have any problem with it. There's a whole bunch of them here, so they've got to do something for them," said worker John Smith.
"It shouldn't happen. I mean, I think, we're in America, you're in America, I think that they should go with our holidays," Pentecost said.

He said he helped build a special Muslim prayer room that's located inside the plant and that no other Tyson facility has been that accommodating for any other religion.
"If we want to go pray, we don’t have one for Christians," he said.

I just can’t believe a union would sacrifice Labor Day. I guess they figured a sway for Christmas would be going too far even for their dhimmis.
Tyson doesn't care. They approved it.
The majority of the workers are Muslim, so it's kinda hard to bitch about the minority running roughshod over the majority.
It's even hard to gripe about this being an immigration issue. Somalis are here as refugees, not immigrants.

As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness:

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law. When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions (Paris –car-burnings). Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats (Amsterdam - Mohammed cartoons).

It is good to remember that in many, many countries, such as France, the Muslim populations are centered around ghettos based on their ethnicity. Muslims do not integrate into the community at large. Therefore, they exercise more power than their national average would indicate.

Federal or State observance applies to the Governmental Employees and certain regulated industries like Banks and governmental unit.
A private company can list and set such Holidays as it observes and then elect to pay or not pay these days as work days under hourly labor policies and agreements.
Tyson is sly in picking a government invented holiday (non-traditional) that was a Labor Union beloved new institution started in NY/NJ in 1882 by Central Labor Union.

People are uninformed and largely even uneducated, and to those, Obama’s energy plan makes perfect sense, as does his Iran stance, or rapid withdraw from Iraq, or, or, or. Because people are uninformed they don't see a threat, and the news while sensationalizing everything else, mutes or muffles the threat Islam poses.

I’m supposed to get worked up about a neogiated paid holiday between a company and it union workers. Didn’t the union ask for this holiday and the company/union agreed? Sounds like bargining to me.
Don’t know about the lawsuit but they are getting flak now for dumping chicken waste into a landfill. The neighbors are getting upset about the odor, etc........ But then living next to a landfill one shouldn’t expect an odorless atmosphere.
