A former Dogwood City pastor convicted of molesting small children while in his day care has died in prison. Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokeswoman Michelle Lyons confirmed that Jefferson Marion Moore Jr., 60, (Brother Jeff) died in his cell in the McConnell Unit late last month. Officers were doing a routine head count on May 26 about 5:23 a.m. when Moore’s cellmate told them Moore was unresponsive in the cell,” she said.

Lyons said officers began CPR and called EMS. Moore was transported to a local hospital where he later died. “There is still an investigation ongoing, but it appears he died of natural causes. There were no signs of foul play,” she said. Moore was convicted in July 2006 for raping a 6-year-old during “nap time” at his day care facility in Dogwood City.

While awaiting trial and out of the Smith County Jail on bond, Moore made several threats to Tyler Morning Telegraph reporters covering the case and was warned by Tyler police about his actions and told to stay away from the reporters and the newspaper. The prosecutor told jurors in the case that a child rapist was finally discovered in the community and law enforcement found that he had been raping little girls for some time.

Moments after the jury returned a guilty verdict on the sexual assault charges, he attacked the prosecutor in the case. Moore was serving a life sentence and was not eligible for parole for 30 years.

How many churches did he work at? How many children did he victimize? Where are the deep pockets, and the millions that rightfully belong to the victims? Where is the mainstream media coverage?

I know you are just trying to draw parallels to the Catholic Church case, but no evidence is even hinted at that anyone other that the man and the victims knew. From the article:

The prosecutor told jurors in the case that a child rapist was finally discovered in the community and law enforcement found that he had been raping little girls for some time.

Show me where any adult (church official or not) knew and covered it up and I'll be willing to see them bankrupted and jailed, too.

“,,,he had been raping little girlS for some time.”

Plural. Little GIRLS. For some time.

How long? Who looked the other way? Did NONE of his victims say anything? How many churches did he serve at, while raping little GIRLS. These are serious questions. Were he Catholic, they’d be asked. That they are not answered already, is criminal.

These stories SHOULD be posted. Otherwise, people will think that protestants are guiltless. The only difference is, protestants have no money to pay for the victims’ rehabilitation, therapy, civil damages, etc.

Oh I don't know, guys like Rick Warren, Joel O'Steen, etc., seem to have plenty of ca$h, not that I'm suggesting they've done anything illegal but I suspect they've got some pretty deep pockets in the event they ever face a civil lawsuit for personal damages.

I pray that he made peace with his Saviour before his passing.

"Anybody that is protestant can start a church!"

"Wherever two or three of you are gathered in my name..."

(except for a Rick Warren mega, its "whever two or three thousand...")
