I do!
Thanks. (do the same)
I’ll do my best. :)
Please don’t refer to me as “friend”. I have heard and seen Osteen enough, and have studied him enough, to know that he is all wet when it comes to his beliefs. Only Osteen will have to answer for his errors, but he is also responsible for all those that he has led astray, just as all the others.
Enough said. Have a good day.
You haven't produced anything substantive for your assumptions, yet you continue to malign this man of God. That's exactly what the Pharisees did with Jesus. You also seem to take no responsibility for your words and accusations. God says "touch not mine anointed and do my prophets no harm"(1Chron 16:22, Psalm 105:15). A stern warning for those who carelessly, maliciously, recklessly, irresponsibly malign those who God is using.
Although your responses have included attack-dog mean-spiritedness, I care about you and hope and pray the Lord will help you in these matters. I think (and hope) you mean well.
This guy sounds like a broken record. He's full of accusations like his co-prosecutor, Satan, the Accuser of the Brethren, but ignores the fact he's got the burden of proof for his charges. My guess - a maturity problem both emotionally and spiritually. Who knows, maybe that was the Pharisees' problem also. He sure sounds like the type Jesus was always encountering...
You dare to compare Joel Osteen to Jesus?
"God says "touch not mine anointed and do my prophets no harm"(1Chron 16:22, Psalm 105:15). A stern warning for those who carelessly, maliciously, recklessly, irresponsibly malign those who God is using."
Prove that he is "annointed" by God. On the other hand, God did use a jackass.
Have you never read, "As he is, so are we in this world" 1 John 4:17 and "It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord" Matthew 10:25? Or "As my Father hath sent me, even so send I you" John 20:21? and "I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God" John 20:17?
Jesus said to the Sadducees (they're so sad, you see), "Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God" Matthew 22:29.
You people who still defend Joel Osteen are just like the ones who constantly defend Todd Bentley down in Florida.
You’ve got the burden of proof pal, and so far you fail.
I don’t have to prove anything PAL, your guy has already done that in public and on TV.
Spoken like a true third grader. Please, your mommy's calling you, go please and whine at someone else.
I dont think I mentioned hardships those in the Bible experienced.
Cut-and-pasted from your first mailer to me: Quoting from one of his sermons, he says about Christians that whatever I touch is going to prosper and succeed. He ignores the realities of life and the hardships those in the Bible faced.
Maybe you need to pay more attention to your posted claims against this guy. Anyway, this statement seems to assume that prosperity and hardships of life are mutually exclusive. Hence my doctrinal discussion on the subject in which you did not engage. For ease, I'll re-post below and we'll try again...
If you listen to Joels entire sermons in their entirety (and read his books), youll see he certainly does not ignore the hardships of life. Much of what Joel deals with is negative attitudes towards suffering and difficulty. What does Gods Word say? In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Give thanks in the midst of tragedy? Yes, according to Gods Word! Why? Well read on...Now thanks be unto God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ (2 Corinthians 2:14). According to Gods Word, we are always victors. Joel consistently exhorts his congregation to stay in faith in the tough times and God will see you through and bless (prosper) you. Job is a good example of this and so is the Shunamite woman in the passage below: So she went and came unto the man of God to mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, yonder is that Shunammite: Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well: (2 Kings 4:25,26). In this passage, the Shunamite womans son had just died. Yet her response to Elisha shows a heart of faith not self pity it is well. It shows a heart that believes God is a good God even when circumstances seem otherwise. If you listen to Joel, he consistently speaks of this and its very scriptural. It just isnt religious enough for the Pharisees in our midst. More, if you care to read on Its hard for many to believe that Gods hearts desire is to bless (from eus meaning good - same Greek root word as prosper) his people. Yet many miss the fact that Gods Word is filled with Gods desire to bless his people. This is so important to God that Jesus first recorded sermon in the Bible is about being blessed (prospering). The reason people miss this is its all by grace and grace doesnt make any sense to the natural man. Nevertheless, Gods Word is saturated with the truth that we are blessed by grace because of Jesus finished work and the miracle of atonement. Jude 3 exhorts us to earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints. We are living in a lukewarm age when the power of his resurrection has been watered down. People these days relate to the fellowship of his sufferings but often only if it makes us look a bit like martyrs or at least somebody can feel sorry for us, but those things are of the flesh not the spirit.
Osteens messages are all about me which is self centered and sinful.
"Me" is sinful? Jesus died for "me". I'm born again and am redeemed from sin and the curse and the blood of Jesus constantly cleanses me from all sin. If you're born again, the issue isn't sin it's self (needing to surrender to God). "Me" isn't sin. God wants to bless "me" and continues to work on my behalf that I might inherit all he has for me (Rom 4:13). This is also the gist of Paul's prayer in Ephesians 1:15-19, which the Pharisees seem to be blinded to.
He mistakenly quotes Ephesians 6:14 as put on the breastplate of Gods approval. It is actually put on the breastplate of righteousness.
The Bible speaks of two kinds of righteousness: our own righteousness (which is ALWAYS of the law) Phil 3:9, and the righteousness of God (which is NOT by the law but ALWAYS of faith) Eph 3:21, 22. God's righteousness is imputed by faith (Rom 4:3, 13) and it means right standing with God BY GRACE (Rom 4:16). Grace is God's unmerited favor. When I have the breastplate of righteousness on, I am wearing God's favor which is pretty darn close to approval. (BTW, we ARE the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ 2 Cor 5:21.)
