As always, please note there is an alternative to the ELCA, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), which still believes in the Bible. The ELCA is a liberal conglomeration of dying churches formed about 20 years ago.

There are other Lutheran Denominations that would be considered historical confessional Lutheran Churches. What the ELCA won't tell you is that it has lost hundreds of churches over the last few years to the LCMS and a new body - LCMC. The ELCA calls the losses minor, but some of its largest congregations have left. Also, internal "reform" movements are getting frustrated and discussing more about departing the ELCA.
