Fred Baughman, MD, author THE ADHD FRAUD www.Trafford.com, writes to Bob Collier, author of The Parental Intelligence Newsletter http://www.parental-intelligence.com

Dear Bob,

Lyle, who writes above, needs to understand a couple of basic things about science and reason. The burden of proof always lies with those who pronounce ADHD (or any entity) a "disease," then "diagnose" and "treat" it (by the millions). They must demonstrate a microscopic or chemical abnormality in the first and all subsequent "patients" they say have it, such as cancer cells on the "Pap" smear in women said to have cancer of the cervix, elevated blood sugar in those diagnosed diabetic or absent phenylalanine-4-monooxygenase in phenylketonuria. If they identify no abnormality, not only is their no disease to diagnose, their is no disease/abnormality to "treat" and make normal or more nearly so.

There has been no abnormality proven in so-called ADHD or in any other "disorder"/ "disease"/ "chemical imbalance" in all psychiatry, and yet they claim, in the foreword of the DSM-IV, that all of them are. Their claims of such and their sham biological literature fill volumes--the fraud perpetrated to sell "chemical balancers"--pills, for their controlling partner, Big Pharma, and for their co-conspirators in the Congress and White House--those who "sell" our normal, troubled, troublesome children, today, to this biggest of all drug cartels. The APA and NIMH in league with all psychiatric academia author and perpetuate the fraud. The AAP (pediatrics), AAFP (family practice) and other APA (psychology) eagerly join this immensely successful (financially) scheme whereby lifetime "patients" are made of normals. The American Academy of Neurology of which I am a fellow, refuses to divulge--as is their duty--that their are no brain or other diseases in psychiatry and is, thus, a co-conspirator, as well.. The American Academy of Neurology has claimed their duty is: "Protecting and treating the brain and nervous system is the essence of neurologist's work," and yet they refuse to speak of the "chemical imbalance" fraud and of the fact that the millions of children thus labeled and drugged are neurologically/medically/physically normal. I have written the last five or six presidents of the AAN asking that they clarify the "chemical imbalance" issue for the public but none have had the guts, ethics or morality, to so much as respond to me. Only Sandra Olson, MD, in 2004, responded to me and, at that, side-stepped the issue, saying it was the province of the Child Neurology Society, when, in fact, virtually all of their members are members, as well, of the AAN. Neither the current AAN president, Steven Sergay or his predecessor, Thomas Swift acknowledged my letters to them. In the meantime psychiatrists and all types of physicians who have adopted "chemical imbalance" diagnosing" and "treatment" to their practices (neurologists among them) cause immensely more brain injury and death than they otherwise prevent and successfully treat according to the credo of the American Academy of Neurology.

Suggesting that Mr. Collier's opinion goes against the "mainstream scientific community" again belies Lyle's misunderstanding of what science and the scientific process is--one guided by observation, experimentation and proof only--not by vote, show of hands or consensus as Lyle appears to believe. Armed with proof, one scientist, one scientific physician, is correct and is the bearer of the truth. No vote, no "mainstream" consensus is needed. It is surely to be hoped that most physicians, however, would come to recognize and practice in accord with that which can be proven by observation and testing. Where this is not the case we have charlatans telling normals they have "cancer," "diabetes" and "chemical imbalances" of the brain to make "patients" out of them for money and all--medically--and socially, society-wide-- is lost.

As bad as the ADHD/stimulant fraud has been (186 deaths reported to FDA-MedWatch, 1990-2000), this is small potatoes compared to the for-profit assault on society and its children with the hideous brain poisons that are the antipsychotic drugs--both the new (atypicals) and old (typicals). But the judiciary, instead of recognising the true criminals, enforces the bogus diagnosing that make the for-profit poisoning possible. Clearly they do not see the "zombies," the "Night of the Living Dead" scenario they are creating.

You can’t prove a negative. As the non-custodial parent of a drugged boy, I can tell you that the cure is worse than the disease.

Email is rarely a good source for information

Why? What happened, if you don’t mind my asking?

I’m against drugging kids, but I’m curious.

Due to the relationship between Baughman and Scientology, any email by him should be posted in the Religion Forum.

ADHD is caused by an excess of refined carbs and excito-toxin chemicals that children unwittingly take in. The “disease” can be balnced nutritionally, drugs are unnecessary.

“drugs are unnecessary.”

In some cases perhaps, not all.

“As bad as the ADHD/stimulant fraud has been (186 deaths reported to FDA-MedWatch, 1990-2000),... “

What happened to the 364 deaths you claimed in yesterday’s thread?

1. Scientology is pushing hard on banning mental health drugs - I see no reason to help them

2. The FDA says that ADHD drugs average slightly less one adverse event per million prescriptions. That’s low for even an over the counter drug.

Reputable sources suggest the deaths are about 6 per year with most of those having preexisting heart problems.

Yesterday’s thread was a total mind trip with the blanket claim that mental health disorders do not exist.
I see today’s thread focuses on ADHD, which is overly diagnosed.

Yesterday’s thread showed the same pattern as today’s thread though, post and run.

My son at 10 was put on the juice along with 10 of his male classmates (11 out of 14 boys). What followed? 14 years of sleepless nights, other drugs, other dosages, other “diagnoses”, and now I read they don’t know the long term effects of these medications. Ritalin...adderol...sleep med...vallium-like compounds...what a pile of crap. What a crime has been perpetrated on the country by teachers who can’t or are too lazy to handle boys.

Reminds of a South Park episode where the kids, then the adults are dosing Ritalin. Possibly Chef tries to get the adults off the stuff by showing a “PSA” spot where three kids are jumping and carrying on at their desks. The announcer goes to the first kid yells “shut up and do your homework” and follows it up with a smack on the back of the head. The kid continues to bounce and the announcer smacks him again. The kid sits quietly and gets to work. The next kid requires only one smack to get the point across and gets down to business. The third kid only requires a stern look. Of course the example is intended to be comedic, but the point seems certain. Loving discipline is better than medication.

Don’t know if the mood leveling drugs are bad or good, but the human parents seem a better route for all but the most catastrophic “behavior” problems.

Interesting. And you’re right, I think about the over-diagnosis. When I was science chairmen, drug reps always wanted to come in and educate us about new drugs so we (with no training) could “be sensitive” to kids taking them... But I think the expectation was that somehow sales would go up.

But to over-generalize those problems by going after mental health issues and medicines in general is unwarranted.

That sounds chillingly like my life.
