I have no respect for Bishop Wiegand. He replaced the ultra liberal Francis Quinn. This took place back before the Vatican gave approval for female altar servers. Nonetheless their use was almost everywhere in the Sacramento diocese.
So when Wiegand became the new Bishop I had several friends who made an appointment to see him and ask him to put a stop to this abuse (female altar servers). Now remember this was BEFORE the Vatican gave permission.
And he refused to put an end to it. I lost all respect for the man at that time!
