There is a story that Eusebius relates in his History of the Church from 311AD. He says that St Peter was in a public building when he heard that a well known heretic, Cerinthus I believe, was in the building. St Peter got up and announced that he was leaving the building since it might well be struck by lightening.

I think that was St. John, not St. Peter.
