I'm a new catholic, but I've heard several cradle catholics around here in the chicago area tell me what a big "liberal" Bernadine was. I remember the press lauding him as "very popular". This is nauseating. Cardinal George got lambasted when the sex abuse scandal broke here. Everybody tells me Cardinal George is conservative, so I guess we know why he got so much abuse for something I don't think he was responsible for.
Kind of reminiscent of someone asleep at the switch in D.C. for 8 years while alQaeda organized and trained, and his successor who gets to clean up the mess and get the blame when things don't go perfectly.
