The report paints a picture of a priest who felt entitled to a lifestyle that more closely resembled those of some of his wealthy parishioners.

He doesn't appear to have taken his vow of celibacy seriously, so why should his vow of poverty present any obstacles either?

And obedience? Fuhgeddaboudit.

Clearly a "priest" from the Judas Iscariot school-of-Divinity: hand-in-purse and betraying Our Lord's mission with a kiss.

Sin is indeed an ugly thing.

Since the article did not mention which Order he belonged to, it's possible he did not take a vow of poverty. That doesn't justify his spending other people's money like a politician, but it's a point.
