Scholars attribute 2 Peter, not to St. Peter the Apostle, but to a writer using a pseudonym.

But the verse does clearly show the necessity for Scriptural Authority; that reliance upon personal interpretation leads to error..

"In them (Paul's letters) there are some things hard to understand that the ignorant and unstable distort to their own destruction, just as they do the other scriptures."
