"Next week, St. Augustine's is having a Ramadan celebration and a day of fasting to celebrate Ramadan."

Now you see, what do you suppose this accomplishes when Roman Catholics come to the Orthodox and say, "You know, we should have a reunion of the Churches"? We want to grab our women and children and run just as fast as we can back to our incense shrouded mountains, that's what it accomplishes.

Very, very sad.

"I met a family who has a statue of the Virgin Mary in their yard. One of their Muslim friends visited and asked to have a few moment alone to pray in front of the statue of Blessed Mary."

This is quite common in Lebanon, Syria especially and Isreal. Male and female Mohammadens seem to have quite a devotion to the Most Holy Theotokos and regularly visit her shrines. Many years back, Syria sent up a couple of Moslem cosmonauts on a Russian space ship. Before they went up, they visited an Orthodox women's monastery in Syria which has a particularly noted Icon of the Theotokos. They prayed in front of the Icon asking for her protection and that of her Son and asked the nuns to pray for them. The nuns gave an Icon to the men who carried it with them into space.

You and I can pray for our persecutors. I've had to suffer intolerable and unchristian rhetoric too. One of my coworkers told me that to have my view so fixed upon Catholic teaching as my filter to the world was very "narrow". It was one of the nicest compliments I received, and I sincerely hope that God can accuse me of the same narrowness. I thanked the coworker for stating such a pleasant remark and he ceased trying to shift my focus off Christ.

Yes! Isn't that one of the seven acts of mercy, to show a sinner his wrongful behavior? This is garbage, I wonder if B16 knows about this kind of thing going on. I would document all of this and get a package over to the Vatican, pronto

“Allow us to recognize You in all your holy names and forms...Let us know you as Abraham...as Jesus, as Muhammad, and in many other names and forms.”

Purely un-Christian and purely blasphemous! Abraham was the prophet of the Jews, an honorable man, and truly great. Of Christ, what can be said of our Saviour that has not been said? But to compare the founder of Judaism and the Son of God to the spawn of Satan is beyond offensive!

Abraham was a good and moral man, he was willing to sacrifice much for God (including Isaac)....he was a true holy man. Jesus gave His life for all of us, resisted temptation and gave the world a message of hope...He is someone deserving of being worshipped. Mohammed was a murderer, a rapist, a theif, a pedophile, a blasphemer....he gave in to temptation, and has shown by his ravings in the Koran that Satan is the muslim god! Judaism and Christianity elevate the soul....islam enslaves the soul and feeds the libido! Judaism and Christianity free us from the wants of this world and move us closer to God....islam preys on man's greed and promises a brothel after death!

Pax Christi is NOT Christian in the least! They can quote the Bible as much as they want, but by including the voice of Satan as being on a level with the Son of God, they've shown that they aren't Christian, but rather are blaspheming New Age cowards!

My FRiend, have faith that God's will will be done. Benedict XVI is cracking down on blaspehemers such as McCarrick and others. I can understand why the Eastern Church would run from a Western Church that seemingly embraces those who would destroy us, but those are men who embrace the Devil, and they will be removed. If the good laity of both of our churches, Orthodox and Catholic, remain true to the Word of God, and pray that the clergy of our churches will see the truth and stop embracing the words of those who seek to destroy us, then....and we should all pray for that day.....Christ's people will be one again.

God bless you, and all the Orthodox.

" Benedict XVI is cracking down on blaspehemers such as McCarrick and others. "

+BXVI is much respected and admired among virtually all of the Orthodox I know who are familiar with his writings and speeches, far more so than among my rather left leaning Jesuit and lay Roman Catholic relatives. As we see it, he is the most Patristic of the Popes in the past 1100 years. From the day of his enthronement, and indeed before that, he has demonstrated in his words and his actions, symbolic and otherwise, a profoundly patristic understanding of the role of the Bishop of Rome. He has, however, a tough row to hoe before him, nothing less than changing the entire phronema, or mindset, of the Roman Church, at least in the First World and not just among the hierarchy, but perhaps even more importantly among the laity. God grant him the years to accomplish at least a part of this. Clearing out the heretics from the hierarchy and the clergy is a good place to start.

As I recall, wasn't St. Francis trying to evangelize and convert the Moslem leader during his "outreach" to Islam?

"Heck, when you have Cardinal McCarrick of DC beginning a talk with a blessing in the name of "Allah the most merciful," as he did a couple of weeks ago, what more do you need?"

Do you have a source on this?

"The problem is that no attempt is being made to offer the Muslims the truth. This event at the church in my town, for example, is to get the (thoroughly unchatechized and vulnerable) "Catholic" students to learn about Islam, not the reverse."

Quite true...disturbing, but quite true.

On EWTN last night, Father Conner was talking about how the Catholic Church might get a lot smaller in the coming days, as the dross is purged and people who cannot stand the Truth get out. It will be a good thing for the Los Angeles Diocese, I'll say. I wd put money on that there is a Ramadan celebration here, somewhere -- perhaps downtown at the Cathedral.

I personally do not believe it is ignorance, but rather PRIDE in being avant garde, in pushing the edge of the envelope, in being a 'free thinker.'

Next week, St. Augustine's is having a Ramadan celebration and a day of fasting to celebrate Ramadan.

Okay, that's just creepy. Why do they even pretend to be Christian when they've obviously abandoned God for this satanic cult? Or were they just unaware that Ramadon isn't a Christian celebration, and is a pagan celebration of a false god?

Not even getting Islam right. It is, so far as I can discern, a totally worldly religion. Even in the Resurrection of the Dead, a doctrine they share with Christians, only Muslims will enter into paradise. With them Paradise will be no admission to the presence of God but simply the satisfaction of all their sensual desires. All in all, it is about as spiritual as the utopia offered by the Communists, one which is achieved through the destruction of all their enemies.

The Pride that has driven the "progressive" clergy since V2. Their only faith they have is in their own superiority to the Catholic herd.

I will be taking this to the Propagation office of the Archdiocese of NY tomorrow. You guys have any thing else you want me to bring... Link it here, I will print it and take it.

Also, send these things to Mail@catholicleague.org

I'm recruiting plants for ops there.

Therese, pray for us.

Amen, I witness to that... and I earnestly pray for it.

This is indeed a battle.

Looks like we have to get a team together on this.

And it also shows it stark detail why the Catholic churches need the Orthodox churches.

The converse is also true, but unfortunately I don't think that the Catholic churches have done so good a job of making that point.

"I don't see a prayer to Muhammad here, but it does seem from this that in their haste to assume dhimmi status, these people have deified Muhammad (as well as Abraham), thereby guaranteeing that they will not win the friendship, but only the ire, of any pious Muslim."

Oh and I wouldn't be surprised if they went on to futher "impress" the muslims by inviting them to a Eucharistic celebration where mini-skirt clad EEMs distributed the blessed body and blood of Christ.
