I found this on another web site with regard to the alleged events of January 23rd.

"She has a daughter (they all go to this Church where we were Preaching) who's birthday is on the 23 of January. Two years ago, a prophet in their Church gave her a word, that in two years on her birthday, something horrific would happened in America. When my wife shared about January 23, 2006, the man that said that to the daughter was in the service that night and stared at her until they made eye contact."

Is this the way God's prophets operate? Have we as Christians becomes so duped that any "word" is believed with the same sincerity as if we are reading the very Word of God?

In the 1970s the church endured a rash of prophecy preachers that told us Jesus was going to rapture His church in the 1980s. We suffered through that, and, thankfully, many Christians gave up on the eschatological viewpoint which gave rise to these false interpretations of the Bible. It is my sincere hope that this recent rash of false "prophets" will also make Christians sit up, take notice, and adopt a more faithful view of God's revelation to His people.

You are attempting to judge that which cannot be known except between the individual and God, barring supernatural gifting. Perhaps motives is not totally an accurate term, but you are trying to judge upon them something that is beyond our ability and with our current knowledge.

I don't have to judge motives. The OT prophets were never judged by motives. If they failed in their word it was a sure sign that they were deceived. Period. End of discussion. It was a sure enough sign that they could be killed based on that fact alone.

I know the options and I have laid them out here. Every one of the options is fatal to the "prophet". That's why God instituted a strict standard by which His church could judge a faithful word from the Lord: 100% accuracy every time they open their mouth. And that's also why the punishment for inaccuracy was so severe. It's easy to dupe the people of God, especially when the people are unwilling to deal appropriately with the offender. We are much to sentimental.

We obsess with man's standard rather then the Lord's. We have a sure sign that these are false prophets, yet some continue to try to rehabilitate them and their message. Why is that?

You have clearly not read my postings previous to your engaging me on this. Pray you are not judged in the same manner.

If this does not speak to you, then you have nothing to be concerned about. I don't think I mentioned anyone specifially, except the false prophets.

It would be nice for those who have an affinity to ongoing revelation to suggest some concrete way to deal with the false prophets in their midst. Do you have any?
