Semiramis wept for forty days (the basis of the Roman Catholic observance of Lent),

Of course.

The forty day fast of Jesus in the desert, the forty day warning issued by Jonah to Nineveh, and the forty day vigil of Moses awaiting the Law had nothingto do with Lent.

Sarcasm.

Good counterpoint. I'm not aware of scripture pertaining to Tammuz's mother weeping for forty days.

But, I'm also aware that 'lent', and the forty days of it, is just another man-made ritual. A thing to do to feel religious. Obedience (tagline), is better than sacrifice.
