He repented and then he suicided. I don't think his repentance was before God, because of his subsequent action, but that's just my opinion.

Given the suicide, I'd tend to agree with your opinion.

Perhaps I should have been more clear in my original post, lest others here believe I was making the case for Judas' salvation. That sort of theological argument would be way above my pay grade.

The very foundation of our faith is shaken

Somehow I suspect that this statement is insincere. For some reason people think having unperturbed faith when bad stuff happens in insensitive, so they say things like this. But they know perfectly well that stuff like this happened in the Bible and has kept happening.

Peter said that Psalm 109 was about Judas.
When he is tried, let him come forth guilty; let his prayer be counted as sin!...

For he did not remember to show kindness, but pursued the poor and needy and the brokenhearted, to put them to death.

He loved to curse; let curses come upon him! He did not delight in blessing; may it be far from him!

He clothed himself with cursing as his coat; may it soak into his body like water, like oil into his bones!

May it be like a garment that he wraps around him, like a belt that he puts on every day!

It's not looking good for Mr. Iscariot.

Good post, A.J. Thanks for the reminder about Acts 1:20. Totally slipped my mind.

You're right: rader's church was ECLA. But I think Rader would have been just as likely to be a member of a Lutheran church that happened to be Missouri Synod. He constructed a life of lies, but doctrinal nuances had nothing to do with it.
