Wow! I am completely impressed by your recall! I read the Screwtape Letters a couple of times and the last time was only a couple of years ago - I would never have remembered this particular exchange - which is perfect. C. S. Lewis was so gifted.

BTW... there was a great PBS program on a few months ago... a fictitional debate between C. S. Lewis and S. Freud - Lewis was an atheist turned Christian and Freud, a Jew turned atheist. All the dialogue was from their own letters and writings. The program also had a panel of similarly disposed people debating the merits of Lewis' choice and Freud's rejection of God. One of the best things I've seen on TV in a while.

Also, there's a new book similar to the Screwtape Letters... saw it reviewed in January's edition of Crisis... sounds good.
