Aww, damn. Wally was who first made me aware that there was such a thing as politics. Well, he'd best be kickin' rump where he's moved on to...

I know this will seem like a crazy statement, but Wally George was at one time a breath of fresh air before talk radio took off. Evidently some of his guests on the show were paid actors. Wally's shtick was to have liberal people on the program, then build the animosity with them until by the end of the program he'd kick them off the show. It was a hoot to watch. It did marginalize over time, but I enjoyed Wally. It was a great source of humor and some decent values.
Wally's daughter is Rebecca De Mornay.
I used to watch his program in the 80s. It was filmed on a university campus, or at least it seemed like it. The audience was made up of student age men, mostly. They'd chant wildly at Wally's inspiration.
When I think if Wally I smile. I guess worse things could be said of a guy when he goes.

I sat in his audience intoxicated one time.
RIP

Wally was a guilty pleasure of mine. I discovered him on a UHF station in S.F. Saturday night/Sunday morning. Most memorable was his confrontation with self-described "rape rock" vocalist El Duce (sic) of The Mentors. The singer wore his trademark leather mask, which Wally wrested off his head while the crowd chanted "SICK! SICK! SICK! SICK! SICK!"

Rest in Peace, Wally. You were a pioneer and you were entertaining. Thank you for bringing a smile, a wink and lots of laughs to so many.

If he knows Christ, he is free. Probably could not handle the shock of what happened to conservative principles the day Arnold announced.

Ahh damn. Good old Wally. I loved his crazy antics.
Interestingly, I got a chance to talk to Wally briefly during a visit to the KDOC studios about 13 years ago. Off camera, he was all smiles and surprisingly laid back.
I got a chance to see how they did some of their productions. It was pretty funny: absolute chaos until about 5 seconds before going live, then things just seemed to magically fall into place. I get the impression a lot of television is like that.
We'll miss you Wally. Little hint: don't tell God He's sitting in your chair. :^)
