[Tom is] lending credence to the outrageous Hitler smear against Schwarzenegger.

Oh, you are KIDDING me. TELL me you made that up, or heard it fifth-hand.

If that is in any way true, he not only deserves NEVER to be supported in a primary again, but to be positively opposed. That would be truly foul.

Dan

Sorry, Dan. Tom was trolling for votes on both shows.

Please, Dan, he's desperate and confused and feeling lost. Ignore him. Focus on the future and what we can do to help Governor Schwarzenegger in his housecleaning in Sacramento. Sure, like D1 sez, we'll hold his feet to the fire, but what can we do to continue our righteous indignation through Arnie?

I am not kidding. I knew he had "concerns" about the groping stories. But he was on Chris Matthews' election special tonight and yes, he said we "didn't know" the full context of Schwarzenegger's Hitler comments and he had concerns about it.

The fact that Schwarzenegger is on the record as despising Hitler was not mentioned by host or guest. Or the fact that the original story was misreported then "corrected".

I want to be positive and pull together, as someone else noted here on the thread, but this cannot be ignored. That McClintock would deliberately perpetuate the notion that Schwarzenegger admires Hitler was breathtaking to me. I said to my husband "He is FINISHED in California Republican politics!".

g68, I appreciate your appeal for unity.

This gesture and remarks and endorsement by Jim is unfortunately playing out as I suspected. While some appeal for unity and most will heed the call, others are willing to continue the attacks, justified or not.

Even if Tom was saying what he is now being inferred to have said( which I doubt), will it be any different to many here after the returns are in and Davi$ is vanquished and Arnie is dclared the winner after a prolonged certification and legal challenges?

Sadly, the battles that have torn the GOP apart will continue as will the battles here. Life may get better but it may also stay the same, or God forbid, it may get even worse. And somehow, it may not really matter in the end who wins if we all must continue to be witnesses to more of the same nastiness as has played itself out here of late.

I might also ask those who react as they do towards Tom if what was said is true. How would you conduct yourself if you were in his shoes, and be honest?

I remember my first foray in running for "office" in junior high.. LOL ,, man , it took a lot of ribbing to live it down but I did and by the end of my senior year I was elected Class VP(I know, whooptty dee). Some folks are able to overlook others transgressions or visions of the future, others only seek to remind us of our failings or clamorings all too often.

What will you do?

Unity. I'll settle for a couple days of relative peace myself.
