Fantastic post, your #100.

Personally, I figure a half a liberal can be shoved off the fence either way. I'd rather be on their side and pulling them toward us than on the other side shoving them towards
'them'.

And please note: It was on Chris Matthews' election special that aired here in AZ (same as CA time right now) between 6 and 7pm. It was not during Matthews' regular showtime in case anybody is looking to watch a repeat of the program.

Well I'm going to let the McClintock issues rest for the night. I will research it for myself, but I won't push it here.

You ever do time on ships in the Pacific region? LOL.. Just setting foot in Hong Kong or Subic Bay for R&R might be enough to screw up any hopes for fulfilling political aspirations. ;-)

I agree. Job One is removing Davis. The Los Angles Times has a long history of being opposed to real reform that makes government responsive to the citizens and being cozy with corrupt politicians.

In the 1910 election, The Times slimed Hiram Johnson. His response should be repeated by the Terminator:

In our city we have drunk the dregs of the cup of infamy; we have been betrayed by public officials; we have been disgraced before the world by crimes unspeakable; but with all the criminals who have disgraced us, we have never had anything so degraded, so disreputable, and so vile as Harrison Gray Otis and the Los Angeles Times.

The one blot on the fame of Southern California, and the bar sinister on the escutcheon of Los Angeles, is Harrison Gray Otis, a creature who is vile, infamous, degraded and putrescent. Here he sits in senile dementia, with gangrened heart and rotting brain, grimacing at every reform and chattering in impotent rage against decency and morality, while he is going down to his grave in snarling infamy. [Mowry, The California Progressives California 1951 p. 126]

Doesn't this fit the Times and its current Democratic leadership today? I think so. No one could say it better than the man who gave California the Recall: Hiram Johnson!

I also agree with your support for Arnold -- the Times must not be allowed to claim any credit for anything but infamy from its smears!!

My correspondence with LAT. It is so much crap I had to wash my hands!

(their response from the readers representative)
Thanks for your note. Regarding your link to the Davis story: The Times had reporters more than once look into these allegations. However, articles are published only when editors and reporters find the facts verifiable and the story credible. In this case, they didn't.

I'm also sorry that you saw that original article and follow-up coverage as a "hit piece," rather than a straight-forward investigative report done against a difficult election deadline.

Thank you again for taking the time to write to us about this.

(my letter to them)

I direct you to: http://kfi640.com/gumbyviolence.html

where a story from your paper has been posted. Please note that it is direct prood, with names, named, of individuals in Gray Davis' office who were ASSAULTED by him. Why is this not running side-by-side with your Arnold hit pieces?

I understand your editorial board is against the Recall and especially against Arnold. But I think it is appaling that a paper of your stature would stoop to actually changing the news coverage to support such a position. Your begrudging and late (and minimal) coverage on Bustamante's menbership in the racist organization Mecha, your "October Surprise" partisan smear articles (no doubt initiated by Bob Mulholland), the fact you don't link MoveOn.org with the attempt by the Left to IGNORE sexual conduct by officeholders, etc. etc, etc. makes it clear you are in league with the Leftist Socialist government we inadvertantly elected.

If it wasn't for TJ Simers and Michael Ramirez, I would probably cancel my subscription (I may yet, I am still mulling it over...).

As a subscriber, I demand equal and reasonable reporting outside the confines of the Editorial and Opinion sections!

Nothing like the close to midnight scrambles on the streets of Olongapo during the martial law days to keep a guy in shape.

I wish I could remember what they put in the pitchers of mojo myself. damn , that stuff was good. the san miguel was mighty tasty too.

That description fits quite a few politicos today on the left side of the aisle and in the media, methinks... x42

"The people of California are sending the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Democrat Party, and Bill & Hillary Clinton a great big rejection slip!"

Even more damaging to Democrats. I think all their candidates went to California to campaign for Davis. Boxer and Feinstein used their clout, Jesse Jackson, they all stuck their necks out for him. Think of the put down, the total rejection, when he loses. This has to have serious implications for 2004.

But we better be ready. Rush always says democrats are their most dangerous when they are desperate. This time around, they may be willing to gamble our national security and the success of our military efforts in Iraq, in order to beat Bush.

And you do have you priorities in order and that is always good!
