The Good News: You can use the back side with it's multi-size "20" as an eye chart.

The Bad News: Teh gay.

The ad campaign is needed. Otherwise, people might chose to use a competing $ 20 US bill...

Why? Because as the article says:

Counterfeits aren't the only reason for ads. Poor communication about the last changes in 1996 left cashiers confused, vending machines unable to take the new bill and old bills seen (incorrectly) as valueless in some foreign markets.
I know of several people who had their new (1996) twenties refused when they tried to buy something with it, because the merchant hadn't heard about the new bills and thought it was some kind of "funny money".

A $30 million rollout? Paid air time? Sounds like a government transfer program to their friends in broadcast media.

Thanks for the pics, just printed up a few hundred of them and I am off to the 7-11 to buy me a slurpee with one of these new fangled twenties.

OK, I am kidding (for the benefit of any Treasury agents lurking on Free Republic).

Ah yes. And I imagine your post if they hadn't done this and there was confusion with many businesses rejecting the new bills:

"IDIOTS! Why didn't the government tell anybody about this change?"

Did you know that those big block numbers on the lower right back corner of all the new currency is to aid those with poor vision?

Remember when they brought out the last series of bills and they told us that it would stop counterfeiting? What happened? I wonder what the REAL reason is for the new bills! Any tinfoil hats out there have a clue?

Our currency is starting to look more like Canadian monopoly money. Two words to describe the new look: "funny money"
