McClintock Campaigns In San Diego
NBC SAn Diego ^ | Oct. 4, 2003 | NBC San Diego

McClintock said the allegations against Arnold Schwarzenegger should be treated with skepticism. If the allegations prove to be true, McClintock said Schwarzenegger should get out of the race.

McClintock said he will not drop out of the race despite the fact some believe he is committing political suicide. "I've seen all of the preliminary threats," he said. "'If you don't get out of the race, we'll end your political career.' My response is, I don't negotiate with terrorists."

Regarding efforts by Republicans to persuade McC to withdraw from the race, his response: "My response is, I don't negotiate with terrorists."

Is this the voice of a rational man, calling his fellow Republicans "terrorists"?

I would like to take a moment to ask for donations.

It should be clear to all conservatives by now that the left intends to demonize us. They don't just disagree with us, they hate us. And worse, they want to get other people to hate us.

Places like Free Republic drive the left batty.

Please donate. Thanks for your consideration.

ping.

McClintock's terrorist comment againt Republicans apparently was not a one time slip, it's part of his script -- he said it again in San Diego, the paper is quoting him verbatim.

I'm with McClintock. Those that use strongarm tactics and threats should be kicked in the teeth(figure of speech).

McClintock is the one who is willing to self-destruct, commit political suicide, just so he can destroy his own party and California.

I would like NUMBERS.

Davis is pulling in 35 people to his "rallies" [yup, 35--count 'em]
Arnold gets thousands.
How many are showing up for Tom's??

I question his rationality. He's whacked, and his political career is wacked.

Well, If I was doing as poorly as Tom is with only a few days to go, and Arnold looking to win big dispite the slime attempts, I would also be a little surly, but I think that the comment "I don't negotiate with terrorists." is over the top. Not only is it incorrect and inflammatory, it brands Tom as one involved in the politics of personal destruction, and groups him with the LA Times.

Not a wise move.

Probably time for McClintock to shut down his campaign. His slime attacks against Arnold aren't working. McClintock is declining rapidly in the polls. He has probably terminated his lack-luster political career by refusing to withdraw.

In a few more weeks it will be "Tom who?"

I believe it is unfortunate when candidates with Tom's visibility use the term terrorists to describe what party officals are trying to arrange here. I believe it is natural for a party to try to urge it's candidates to solidify behind one front runner. Perhaps comments have been made to Tom regarding his political future. He must have seen that coming, realizing that political parties must win to affect policy.

Terrorism is the massive public destrucion of innocent individuals with the intent to cower the masses into a certain mindset. I believe Tom's use of this term equates to someone using the term NAZI out of context. Both deligitimize the proper use of the term, and the importance of the impact the proper use should generate.

"I hadn't heard about his comment, doesn't speak well for the man. "

==

He said it back a few days or so ago. Even saying it once speaks very poorly for him, one expects a little more sense from a politician, but to know repeat it at every campaign stop, really shows he lost all his marbles. Calling fellow Republicans "terrorists", especially after 9-11, when we felt a direct impact of terrorists, and repeating it over and over, just shows how far gone he really is.

I shudder to think what he would do as governor, if he doesn't get his way.

Seems to me you believe that threats to end a person's political life unless he withdraws his candidacy is something good for free elections. I've seen a lot of that here on FR lately.

I also see a man's efforts to fight such things as an honorable and rational response, and an attack on his doing so as nothing more than support for those who would attempt to control elections through threat and intimidation.

Is this the voice of a rational man, calling his fellow Republicans "terrorists"?

So you admit that his fellow Republicans are doing just that? If they aren't then he's not calling his fellow Republican terrorists. He's only calling the people who ARE using threats terrorists.

Far more rational than some Clinton-like creep that has a desire to grope and harrass women.
