TOM MCCLINTOCK DAILY EDITION - 10/4/03 (CA GOVERNOR'S RACE)

TOM MCCLINTOCK DAILY EDITION - 10/4/03 (CA GOVERNOR'S RACE)

Please post local, regional, national news and views on Tom McClintock. This is a news and info thread. The following guidelines for posting are per DoughtyOne's most excellent suggestion.

McClintock Camp - Supporters or Defenders

Please post positive articles about Tom's policies and leave the Schwarzenegger bashing to the Democrats.

Schwarzenegger Camp - Supporters or Defenders

The call for McClintock to withdraw right now, or the tactic of calling him and his followers names for not doing so, is not productive and isn't good for the party.

Please save the Rino Arnold/Unelectable Tom rants for other threads.

"Dear Mr. Reagan, it should be obvious to you now that you can never be elected governor. Please put aside your ego, for the good of our party, and get behind the one man who is moderate enough to appeal to California voters - - San Francisco Mayor George Christopher."

Have any of the candidates made any statements regarding how they intend to proceed with the $9 billion suit the state has filed against the power utilities for price manipulation?

Unfortunately, most of today's papers seem to be centered on Arnold instead of Tom.

But splitting the vote is somehow good for the party...when does everyone get together and drink Kool-aid?

McClintock said he'd go along with the lawsuit, as he backs it. Davis has been fighting it...didn't want to admit any culpability, according to McClintock.

McClintock said he'd provide plaintiff - I guess it must be the state, according to your post - with whatever information they've been asking for.

Libertarians endorse GOP's McClintock!

A strange thing is happening in California politics: The GOP is turning its back on a popular, conservative Republican to support a Hollywood actor who opposes nearly every social issue the Republicans claim to stand for.

Meanwhile, Libertarians across the state of California are making an unprecedented exodus from the Libertarian party's candidate and instead supporting California state Sen. Tom McClintock, a conservative Republican. Nothing like this has happened before in the Libertarian Party and it speaks volumes about the character and integrity of Tom McClintock.

Why is McClintock attracting so much attention from the "Party of Principle"? It's because McClintock is the only candidate who is prepared to veto the reckless spending spree that has overtaken Sacramento.

I continue to be amazed that apparenlty you and many others on this forum seem to assume that this is a Republican forum and that Freepers are all registered Republicans and GOP loyalits to boot.

If you download the latest Field poll you'll see that about 30% of likley, registered Republican voters in California still support McClintock inspite of the barage of endorsements by the Wilson gang and the RNC and despite the attacks on conservatives by obvious party loyalits such as yourself.

If you continue your present crusade you are very likely to solidify the right and when 43 strolls into town for the next presidential primary he will not have appreciated your efforts.

When you breakdown the registration difference between Republicans, Democrats, and Independents in CA saying that 30% of Republicans support McClintock is meaningless.

You believe that 10% of the total vote is considered positive?

You believe that 10% of the total vote is considered positive?

The reference was to a potential for 1/3 of the votes in a Republican primary.

How party loyalists treat this much electoral real estate in the comming months will potentially have a great effect on the upcomming primary.

A 30% margin of victory in a general election is a huge landslide but it is a black eye in a primary, especially if the winner is a sitting president.

Well we aren't talking about a Republican primary. We're talking about the CA recall which is a completely different puppy.
