NOVAK: 'NOBODY IN THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION CALLED ME TO LEAK THIS'
Drudge Report ^ | 09/29/03

Edited on 09/29/2003 2:01:54 PM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

In July I was interviewing a senior administration official on Ambassador Wilson's report when he told the trip was inspired by his wife, a CIA employee working on weapons of mass destruction. Another senior official told me the same thing. As a professional journalist with 46 years experience in Washington I do not reveal confidential sources. When I called the CIA in July to confirm Mrs. Wilson's involvement in the mission for her husband -- he is a former Clitnon administration official -- they asked me not to use her name, but never indicated it would endanger her or anybody else. According to a confidential source at the CIA, Mrs. Wilson was an analyst, not a spy, not a covert operator, and not in charge of an undercover operatives...

Of course her case will not be looked at by the left wing mediots.

She is a conservative who rolled over on their great one, the Clintoon. So in their eyes she is a traitor, and Wilson is a good guy!

Well, there's undoubtedly a problem whereever there are Toon holdovers. Did you read Richard Miniter's new book? On page 88 Miniter recounts how Bruce Lindsey tried to shove an FOB down Woolsey's throat as general counsel. Woolsey said no thanks, but I wonder if Toon ever got that person in at CIA, and if he/she/it is still there...

Oh, I wish I'd seen it. Drat. Thanks for telling me.

Hopefully Schumer will look like the idiot he is as this info from Novak becomes available.

This info is out there but I will tell it once again. Just before clinton left office, he made many of his minions civil service which means that President Bush could not get rid of them unless they broke the law and got caught. Once clinton knew Bush would soon take office, he found a way to keep all his moles in the administration. Hope that helps you to understand.

Did you notice how on the earlier threads today, how the phoney conservatives on Free Republic were calling for Rove's head and GW.

I noticed. And I also noticed that they saw nothing suspicious about the tea drinking Wilson's knowledge base. He was not a power-player (for lack of a better term), sounds like got a Clinton-like junket and decided that he had full knowledge of all available intelligence. It seems to me that it is Wilson who should be investigated, we need to find out who leaked to him.

We aren't positive, but we don't think it's a crime to use an analyst's name, only agent's names.

Earlier on another thread I said I thought this whole thing didn't gain momentum, the Dems were sad, and thus pulled a Clintonista parsing of words, conveniently forgetting or leaving out she is an analyst vs. agent.

He sounds just like Weasel Clark did re his lie about GW calling him up on 9/11 and begging him for help.

I bet that there is a tie in with Wilson, Weasel and the Clintoons that goes beyond being Rats.

When I called the CIA in July to confirm Mrs. Wilson's involvement in the mission for her husband

What, wifey wouldn't tell Mr. Wilson what she was doing? Novak intervening? IMO Novak is spinning, poorly, because he's pressed for immediate response. He might be trying to spin it to allow an anti-Admin interpretation - and Novak was "anti-war" as they come.

What are you talking about? Novak called the CIA Headquarters to confirm Mrs. Wilson's involvement in the mission. He did NOT call Mrs. Wilson. He called the press office at the CIA. I dont have a clue what you are saying.

From all that Novak wrote I dont see that he is trying to damage the Administration at all. He was merely trying to write a story about the mission to Africa and how Wilson got involved.

Professors all over America and so called experts in the DC area brag about being CIA analysts.

This whole thing is nothing more than another Rat F@rt in a whirlwind tyring to smear our president.

Amen re: your comment regarding Clinton holdovers. Bush is getting wacked all over by these "career" experts. Loyalty needs to be mutual. George is giving but not getting IMHO.

When I called the CIA in July to confirm Mrs. Wilson's involvement in the mission for her husband

I'm not an English teacher, but that sentence reads, IMO, that Novak called the CIA on behalf of Mr. Wilson to "confirm" that Mrs. Wilson was involved "in the mission."

It's not the only stilted sentence in the paragraph. That's why I said, IMO, it sounds like a "first draft."

This answer would satisfy me: "Mr. Wilson told me his wife was a CIA agent."

But maybe Novak doesn't want to say that directly because it would be "revealing" a source. So he told us it was Wilson elliptically.

Wonder if this this could be one of the reasons they tried to drag this issue out today?

If she is an analyst and not a covert operator then it might not be a crime to reveal her identity. This may be much ado about nothing.

It's my understanding that she is in covert operations. The guestion, however, seems to be whether Novak outed her or whether it was done by her husband or someone else in response to the article. Novak said she worked for the CIA. He probably would not have published her name if the CIA press person had asked him not to and gave him a reason (i.e, she's in covert ops.

You posted, "Have you noticed all the phony conservatives on FR lately?"

The moles are spotted quite quickly by the Viking Kitties and are exposed and usually eliminated.

The phonies, that I'm referring to are the ones who have been around a long time. They hate GW and use every left wing maggot scam like this to bash him. It gets very tiring to see them repeat the same of crap, over and over!

Go back to that orginal thread before truth and reality came on stage. Check out their time on FR and then see what they have posted. The threads change, but their hatred of our president never changes.
