HOWARD DEAN'S UGLY SLUR
Yahoo News ^ | 9/27/03

Posted on 09/27/2003 11:24:01 AM PDT by South40

There was a particularly ugly moment during Thursday's free-for-all between the 10 Democratic presidential candidates at Pace University.

It came when an obviously stung Howard Dean lashed out at rival Dick Gephardt for comparing him to former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

"We need to remember that the enemy here is George Bush, not each other," said Dean.

Say what?

George Bush is the enemy?

Did Dean misspeak?

Or did he say what he meant?

Casual slur?

Or Freudian slip?

Either way, it was rendered even more offensive by the fact that it took place at Pace University - once-upon-a-time virtually in the shadows of the Twin Towers.

Even more sad is the fact that not one of his opponents - especially pols like Joe Lieberman and Bob Graham, who allegedly know better - criticized Dean on his use of the word.

Which we have to assume means that they agreed with it.

So let's be clear here.

George W. Bush is the president of the United States.

Osama bin Laden is the "enemy."

So was Saddam Hussein, until Operation Iraqi Freedom ended his murderous regime - no thanks to Howard Dean.

Dean and the other Democratic candidates owe an apology to President Bush.

And to the American people.

Not that we expect any such thing, of course.

My unscientific guess is that it's been a gradual thing, starting with the Vietnam era, but the Clinton years greatly accelerated it. You're right, things are being said now by Dem politicians that no one could have imagined in the 1980s.

Republican party morphed from the party of Lincoln to Teddy Roosevelt to Nixon to Reagan.

The Democrat party has morphed more recently from the party of McGovern to the party of Clinton. The Dems are on the skids.

reacting = overeacting = overreacting

RE: GoGophers - they seem to have gone quite nicely today - 20-14 over Penn State in Happy Valley. (That was the real message, The spelling nitpicking was just an excuse to join in.) (Did I spell "nitpicking" right?)

I knew that I had probably spelled overreacting wrong a second time. I just did not want to correct myself a second time!

The Gophers are definitely off to a great start. Can a NCAA investigation be far behind?

Why doesn't killer Dean get out?... Becuase he wants to finish the societal engineering mutations his criminal enterprise party have advanced to the current state of degeneracy. He's got plans for a big cesspool and he can't walk away from that with his littleman complex in full rush!

Howard Dean's wrapped pretty tight. Someday he's going to snap.

I agree. Plus he's delusional if he thinks babysitting Vermont for awhile qualifies him to be the President of the US.

I'm one of the few here who would not want him to be the candidate. Even though he might be the easiest to beat (which isn't convincing), he's just too dangerous to be in that spot if things really go south for GWB.

Communism and Democrats are Fellow Travelers...read the Venona Files and then ask if yourself if there is no doubt that the correlation is 1 to 1!

I don't know if an investigation is coming, but Michigan is on the way. I'm not looking forward to that.

Give me a break... Do you actually believe that every single Democrat or even a majority of Democrats are Communists. How do you explain the passage of the Reagan defense budgets by a Democrat-controlled Congress?

The point is that no Republican leader, let alone any Republican presidential candidate has ever called a Democrat president an "enemy."

Exactly.

I remember a Presidential debate in '96 when Bob Dole was making a point about some issue and said, "My opponent _ for thats' what he is....my opponent.. NOT my enemy _ ....".

Dean's was an unprecedented remark and should neither be forgottennor forgiven.

Don't forget that dean is just exhibiting the traits of a super-ubber-ultra-patiot. In fact, ALL demonrats are such...if you don't believe me just ask them or their faithful, trusty media. As for all demonrats being communists, most of them are not because they only want to confiscate YOUR wealth (your = conservatives in most cases), NOT their own.

So, then, the rest (who are not communists) are basically socialists?

I was outraged at the statement by Dean when he made it, and was looking for some media outlet to pick up on it.
They all showed the replay, but not one commentator that I saw, even hinted that this was way over the top. They are a hateful group of "Americans".

Limbaugh didn't even pick up on it. In fact, he played the clip right up to where Dean was about to make the remark, but then stopped it and made no further comment.

"Not every Democrat is a Communist."

No, not every Democrat is a communist. But enough of their leadership espouses their wealth redistribution philosophy to qualify as socialists. And socialism is little more than the human face of communism...the one they use for marketing.

Yet another thread where you're defending Democrats. Interesting.

Stating that not all Democrats are communists is hardly a defense of the Democratic Party.

I would have to agree. Most of the Senators and Congressmen, matter of fact, most politicians, are ENEMIES OF THE UNITED STATES.
