We heard that Rudy would endorse him. Arnold will have more high profile endorsements than Gray Davis gets votes against the recall.

But apparently McC and his Tomikaze supporters still don't get it.

Guiliani is every bit as liberal as Arnold. But Rudy did a great job in office, and he would never have gotten elected if he were a conservative.

If Arnold does anywhere near as good a job as Rudy, it'll be a big plus.

I'd have to support Rudy if he ran against Hillary, but he better never be on either side of a GOP presidential ticket.

This is the 2008 presidential race. You say rudy is liberal, but what official actions has he ever taken that was liberal ? He took on the public labor unions, reduced street crime, put honesty in NYC govt., was friendly to business, held the line on taxes. Except for being pro choice, exactly what are his other liberal qualifications ?

Tomikaze -- I like it.

But, please, refer to Tom as McQuixote.

The use of metaphors from Don Quixote has been a tradition in California politics, dating at least to the Hiram Johnson campaign in 1910. Art Hoppe or Charles McCable (I forget which) used to make fun of Reagan in The San Francisco Chronicle as "Sir Ronald of Hollyrood" with Lyn Nofzinger in role of Sancho Panza as "Squire Lyn" -- back when you had to laugh at political humor, even from the other side, 'cause it was funny. MacBird was a great send up of Johnson, and Tom Lehrer had hilarious songs about both George Murphy and Hubert Humphrey.

I do too. I saw someone else use it and thought it was so appropriate, that I started to use it as well.

Thats it, a RINO for a RINO. The much dreaded Rudy! What did you expect from such a despicable RINO!? He sure ruined that NYC, didn't he...

You guys are both right!

While campaigning Tom wears the uniform of the WWII Wrongway Flyer Tomikaze.

Back in the state legislature he becomes mild mannered Tom McQuixote who continues to dot his "t"s and cross his eyes.

Now you are talking my talk! I don't want a pro-choice person on the Republican ballot for President/Vice President but for any other race, I leave my options open. As for taking on Hillary, I want the person with an (R) behind their name that can win and I don't care if I only agree with them 1% of the time -- that is 1% more than I agree with Hillary!

If Arnold is such a good candidate, how come so many of you Arnold supporters do almost nothing except ridicule Tom McClintock? Sing Arnie's praises all you like, but don't blame Tom (a politician and a conservative who has paid his dues, unlike Arnold) for running in this race. If you want to blame someone, blame an egomaniacal actor for inserting himself into a political race.

And before anyone mentions another actor - Ronald Reagan - please tell me how he'd feel about all this McClintock bashing.

I have to say, I don't particularly care what happens in the CA race, as long as Davis get booted. I can make arguments for why Bustamante, A.S. or McC should win. But all these supposed Schwarzenegger supporters come off to me as nothing but McClintock bashers. It's sad, and it doesn't say much for Arnie's positions/experience.

He supports New York City's draconian laws that prevent people from owning handguns.
