BUSTAMANTE MIGHT EXIT RECALL RACE (rumor on KFBK)
KFBK talk radio

Mark Williams of KFBK just spoke to a Republican assemblywoman and was told that there will likely be an upcoming announcement regarding Bustamante's candidacy.
Williams stated that polls show that Davis could win the recall election with Bustamante out of the race, and speculated that the announcement had something to do with this.

And pigs have wings. Davis was cremated tonight, by not being allowed to debate. Bustamante will not, not, not, drop out. That rumor's like Drudge and his spinning gumballs about "SUPREME COURT JUSTICE RETIRING--IMMINENT STAY TUNED!!!" What, four times now?

Fantasyland - that would leave no main Dem in the recall race. Not a chance from the party that hangs on to power for dear life.

Well, if Davis believes that poll, there would be no need to have a dim among the replacement candidates since he'd win the first question.

That would indicate that there are enough people voting YES on the recall and YES on Bustamante? What is the support for that?

Nope. Did that performance tonight look like someone who's going to quit? And there is no love lost between Bustamante and Davis.

I don't see whay your anti-conservative attitude is based on. If McClintock drops out, the recall will definitely fail. If he stays in, Arnold will probably win anyway.
To: RDangerfield
It may not be true but don't you think he must be under some amount of pressure from the Democrats in California? Clinton, Gore and several of the wannabe presidents have been out there stumping for Davis. They can't be happy with Bustamante screwing up the partisan polarization they are trying to create.

Hmmmm...
I bet, if Bustamante dropped out, Democratic turnout would drop like a stone; I doubt that even "internal polling" has a question that says something like "would you still bother going to the polls if Davis was the only Democrat running?"
They can't measure that.

Nah, that assumes Davis still has that much stroke.
That decision isn't really up to him. No way will they field nobody in the recall race. Even if Davis was beating the recall 60-40, they wouldn't have no horse in the race.

Every vote for McClintock is a "YES" vote. Don't forget it--if he drops out, Davis wins.
To: HitmanNY
That decision isn't really up to him It's a matter of political capital. If Davis wants Bustthebudget out, he can find the means to do that (such as promising payoffs for interest groups to NOT give Cruz support).

I would think that McClintock voters dislike Davis enough to show up and pull the lever for "YES ON RECALL". Those are the people who started this; those are the people who dislike Davis the most.
It would be pure hypocrisy if they kept Davis in office -- and forfeited an opportunity to boot Davis once and for all, ending his career -- simply to protest their man dropping out. That's un-conservative; only Democrats could be that shallow.
