Ashley Stephenson, lead Plaintiff in successful redistricting case that put an end to gerrymandering and restored respect for Counties in the formation of legislative districts in North Carolina, has sustained severe damage in Washington, NC - directly in the eye of Hurricane Isabel.

His house was directly hit, and another falling tree tore the meter box away from his house, requiring electrical contractor prior to the restoration of power to his house.

If you can help, or if you can just give he and his wife Paula an encouraging word, you won't regret giving him a call at (252) 946-5961.

Ashley has sacrificed a great deal for the voters of North Carolina. Here's a chance to express your gratitude, and perhaps help a real North Carolina Republican.

Hey folks.
Message from Stephenson, this afternoon.

We made it through safely. I've been through storms here since '89, and
I've never seen anything like what just hit us. I'm sure we got 90 to 100
mph gust rushes, and many trees couldn't handle it. Here are a couple of
shots from the storm of the house. We took them when the eye was overhead,
which was a calm time of about an hour. A tree came down on the northeast
side, and our meter box got ripped off the house when a tree took out the
power lines two houses down. We were lucky...I've seen holes in houses
today large enough to drop a refrigerator through with the door open. The
power was restored today about noon. Flooding wasn't that bad here, but it
was quite a problem elsewhere.

I hope everyone else made it through OK.
