Folks who think this ruling might be a convenient way to get Tom McClintock out of the race, think again. If the election is delayed until March, McClintock just told me, he will launch a campaign for reelection to his state Senate seat concurrently with the campaign for governor. His campaign manager believes this is possible because the recall is a special election and the Senate campaign would be a regular election, two separate events even if they are held on the same day. I am sure we will hear more about this in the hours and days ahead.

How much you want to bet that an armada of Bustamante/Schwarzenegger lawyers is headed down the launching ways to dispute that interpretation as we speak? More litigation/vituperation/agitation in store. My hair hurts.
Example: this afternoon's session with Oprah. When he opens his mouth without a script, he's a disaster. On a show designed to close the gender gap by showing he's a family man, pure as the driven snow and all lovey-dovey with Maria he comes out with lines like "Pumping is better than coming."
"SHHHhhhhhh.. I'm watching Oprahhahahahaha!!!!" ;-)
Hypothetically, let's say the special election is held with the March primary and he wins both the governorship and the Republican nomination for the 19th district state senate election. Is there a special election to determine a new Republican nominee?
Thanks for posting those little tidbits of news about the 9th CCoA case in the last few weeks, when the other media didn't have any coverage, and when there was some hostility from people who assumed you were someone else. I'm glad I knew what was going on before today's ruling.
In SF Bay Arnold problem recognized as gender gap in addition to alienation of true believer conservatives. Coverage of Arnold has been generally neutral to positive. Major media pundit says Arnold does talk specifics but media focuses on the personal scandals which override his message (as if that had any truth to it). I think a lot of these guys are almost totally clueless to the internal warfare going on, and why, which might ultimately be for the better.
I believe if that were to happen, the local party central committee would pick the new nominee for the state senate.
Realistically, he's going to have to pick one or the other. Don't be surprised if Parsky & Co. sends Strickland after Tom in the primary...
Tony Strickland already announced he's running for the Republican nomination for US Senate.
Why would Parsky send Strickland to challenge McClintock's seat?
