I wonder if there'll be a C or D cell battery available in Virginia by tomorrow. Not at Price Club - my wife said they sold out today ...

For our old sailboat, we bought ourselves a wind-up flashlight (more like a 6 volt-type lantern) made by FreePlay. It worked out pretty well. Of course, we always keep a stock of batteries in the fridge (AAA, AA, C & D), but we're weird that way. We both lived in areas that had frequent power outages.
But it figured there'd be a run on batteries, water, canned food--I just hope people remember the manual can openers.

Try Sams. Just came from there -- plenty of Ds, low on Cs.

We stocked up at Costco in Fairfax this evening. Bottled water, flashlights, batteries, etc. They had everything we needed.
My mother says that the Fairfax WalMart is very picked over with respect to batteries and bottled water.
