I wish I could believe this with 100% confidence. Islamofascists love death. Why should they be deterred by American bravado? It may be more accurate to conclude that the porbability is high that another hijacking attempt will not succeed, but I'm not even confident of that.
This article as a whole demonstrates a certain naivety--and I'm a Mark Steyn fan. The U.S. has not been free of attacks on citizens that went completely unanswered by the paassive massives, probably standing around, paralyzed by fear. Human nature.
Clearly, that socialism weakens character is true. A long term effect the left never acknowledges. I just don't think Mark has demostrated this terribly well in this treatment.
