Washington -- Like British soccer fans, Tom McClintock's hard-core conservative supporters sound like they would rather burn down the stadium than switch their loyalty to Arnold Schwarzenegger, even if it means losing California's governorship to someone who makes Gov. Gray Davis look like a Republican.

"It's very difficult to fight someone from your own party who is a liberal when they're sitting in office," said Paredes. "Wilson was a prime example of that. It weakens what the party stands for. It no longer stands for issues. It's nothing more than an associated group of people who are getting together to play political games and to try to gain power."

I quit reading when the writer called Schwarzenegger a 'moderate'.

You can't tell Tom McClintock what to do or Tom McClintock will tell you where to take it.

Man, I love this guy.

He is exactly the kind of leader his state, and our country, needs.

Just makes the mindless attacks on him that much more infuriating, especially coming from people who claim to be conservatives.

Amen to that. Politically speaking, Tom is basically a spitting image of Ronald Reagan. Maybe more eye for detail, less on the charisma front. But still, the man has guts. He believes in something and will fight for what he believes in.

That so many so-called "conservatives" seek to defame him for an empty suit RINO celeb sickens and saddens me.

"I'll predict right now, Schwarzenegger will give us a tax increase."

Exactly!

I can just here it now, "We didn't realize how bad the situation was until we got in there and found out the true numbers, blah, blah, blah..."

Hold it right there, he hates taxes, he introduced a tape by Milton Friedman, he is following in the footsteps of Reagan, he...ah forget it.

"To get a victory just to have a Republican there and still lose all of the issues that you feel strongly about -- what kind of victory is that?"

Vote for McClintock and you'll get Bustamante. What kind of victory is that? How much of what you believe in is going to be endorsed by Bustamante? Ask the Naderites. In return for standing on principle and not voting for someone who would have given them 90 percent of what they wanted, they got Bush.

What, you think I've fallen off the turnip truck? So the media does puff pieces of McClintock left and right. He steadily rises, as Arnold steadily drops. Bustmanate remains static. In the final week, McClintock will finally pass Arnold in second place, and be coming up on Cruz. All the bandwagon boys looking to bet on the winner will then switch over to Tom. By then, the media will recognize the threat, but it will be too late for them to unleash the hit pieces. Tom McClintock will be the next governor of this great state.

"I love it when a plan comes together."
