Terrorist Arafat Clings to Power (Same Old, Same Old)

Yasser Arafat today named Palestinian Authority (PA) parliamentary speaker Ahmed Qurei as new prime minister. Qurei will replace Mahmoud Abbas, who resigned yesterday. The BBC describes Qurei as:

...a leading member of the mainstream Fatah faction who helped to negotiate the Oslo peace accord with Israel 10 years ago. ...

Palestinian officials describe him as an Arafat loyalist who's unlikely to challenge the veteran leader.

"Arafat loyalist" means he's tainted by terror, and will continue the PA's rampant mismanagement and corruption. Same old, same old.

This "decision" was made unanimously by Arafat's Fatah party. Gee, what did you expect? A democratic vote? These unanimous votes are reminiscent of old Soviet Politburo decisions, or those of the Communist Chinese and North Koreans. In other words, rule by one man/one party, e.g., dictatorship. I should note that the BBC article mentioned above was entitled, "Arafat tackles leadership crisis," in an attempt to show that Arafat actually cares about the Palestinian people.

The only thing Arafat cares about is Arafat. He's been responsible for mistreating and imprisoning the Palestinian people for decades. He's not about to loosen his grip on power. I feel for the Palestinian people. They deserve much better--that is, if they're willing to give up terrorism. And there are good Palestinians. The problem is, if they speak out, they get whacked by Fatah, Hamas, PFLP, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, etc., etc.

The US State Dept and its puppeteers want more dead children, preferably Jewish and American.

Such murders and maiming with rivers and rivers of blood
have been systematically enabled for two years after 911 by Powell and his Saudi brethren.
What is coming? Bet on another Powell Terrorism-appeasement tour.

Arafat is murdering scum. As I've said before, the IDF should have put a bullet in his head long ago, but they can rectify that oversight by doing it today. Wipe out Arafat and all his high ranking PLO officicals in one day, and the cause of peace will be advanced. Let the French howl, but it would be the right thing to do.
