Schwarzenegger Statement on the Endorsement of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayer Association

“I am honored to announce that I have received the endorsement of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. I would like to thank the members of the Association, because this means a great deal to me and to our campaign.

“I have been a firm supporter of Proposition 13 for many years. I continue to strongly support it, and will continue to defend it. Think what a worse mess California would be in today if not for Prop. 13.

“The Association and I worked together on Prop. 49 and now we are working together again. Our elected officials have created a budget crisis, and an economic situation that is driving businesses and jobs to other states.

“All this was entirely avoidable if Sacramento had followed the common sense principles of Howard Jarvis and Ronald Reagan. They believed and I believe that we don’t have a multi-billion dollar debt because we aren’t taxed enough; we have a multi-billion dollar debt because we spend too much.

“Sacramento cannot say no to higher spending and taxes. Well, I can, and that is what I intend to do as governor.

“Again, I want to thank the Association for this important endorsement, and I look forward to working together with the Association to bring some sanity to Sacramento’s spending and taxing.”

Heheheh. Agree that folks who proclaim to operate from principle are imperfect too.

My bigger point was that poking fun, ridicule, etc. among generally like-minded people is counterproductive. Note that I applaud Coulter's ridicule of liberals, and that I think ridicule is a fair tool.

I am advocating that ALL conservative-minded people refrain from ridicule, and instead put energy into expressing why their point should be adopted.

None of us will get everything we want on this earth, and all of us can get everything that God promised.

Funny he didn't mention what Recall originator Ted Costa said about the foundation that his late friend founded, and their commitment to lower taxes. I mention that only in passing... Say Registered, color me curious, I understand you won't be affected by this, but you obviously have alot of opinion to share, (and share and share) can you riddle me an answer on this topic?

BTW, since you expressed an interest in Arnold's position on gun control, you may want to check this one. I haven't read it yet myself, actually, it's a new entry on my always-expanding list of "new information to research"...

Except for Schwarzenegger and state Sen. Tom McClintock, most major candidates support gun-control measures already signed by Davis or pending in the Legislature, according to answers on questionnaires submitted by The Bee. The campaign of Republican Peter Ueberroth did not provide a policy statement on gun control. McClintock last week won an endorsement from Gun Owners of California based on his long pro-gun voting record and his support for an interpretation of the Second Amendment that recognizes a right of individuals to own firearms. "He's been tried and true," Paredes said.

That was very well said, thank you. We should be concentrating on the issues of this campaign, and think through what are the benefits/detractions of each candidate. Unfortunately, that kind of reasoning has been lost in the hysteria and rhetoric of blasting the "other side" (by both sides). People who are shouting are seldom listening.

Now I remember you had just a laughably bad time answering the questions about (R)nold's Unfavorable ratings in the polls that I had to link and then ask you over and over again. I also remember you lecturing conservatives modifying your anti-Tom picture, yet not answering to ripping off my friend's image of Tom pointing at Mr Freeze into your Viva La Tom image, but lets not get off topic... Speaking of sounding unAmerican and unconservative, what in blue blazes are you trying to say? You are going all Arriana Huffington on me in your bizzare (R)nold partisanship. If he raises taxes it will go up on the same "rich" it always does, who earn in the top bracket first and foremost. Like my boss, for running my company is in that catagory, because the top 1% of wage earners in CA are paying over 30% of the taxes, so don't give me this liberal "fair share" canard. We are looking for a new building, why doesn't he just go to Nevada?

So I'll ask you again, will Gov (R)nold raise taxes?
