SAVING JESSICA LYNCH (NBC) - Benjamin King ("S.W.A.T.") has joined the cast of the upcoming Peacock telefilm. He will play 38-year-old Master Sgt. Robert James Dowdy, who, like Lynch, was with the 507th Ordnance Maintenance Co. based out of Fort Bliss, Texas. Dowdy was one of the soldiers who died when their convoy was ambushed March 23.

I really agree. I think it cheapens everything that everybody involved did there. TV and Hollywood should stay out of it. It's disgusting.

I hope the young lady makes a PILE of cash and manages to keep it away from the IRS. Further, i hope she finishes studies at a good university and becomes a teacher. What a wonderful gift she will be to our youth.

You think this is bad?...
I am still waiting for the mockery they make out of Flight 93. Wait till they think it's "safe" to show their "made for TV" version.......

This impirialistic conquest can not be justified by a female who was injured in a car wreck and captured - then rescued in an empty hospital.

Remember the M*A*S*H episode where a General died suddenly and his aide wanted to inject him into action somewhere and there were NO battles at that moment in Korea, so he manufactured one? I hate to say it but this whole Lynch "hero" thing reminds me of that.

Since 9/11 the word "Hero" ceased to have meaning -- it just means someone we like. And no word has emerge to take its place so we can't honor true heros anymore.

It's coming. No doubt about it.

If I could take a baseball bat into the studio that does that, I would do it. A shotgun would would be good also.

These are not things that should be cheapened. I am currently trying to go thru EMT training. I don't know if I can make it. It is not a Disney film.

I missed the "imperialistic part" -- a lurker who just happened to stumble onto the truth (I mean about the "hero" part. Well a broken clock is right twice a day, I suppose.

Well, we can expect a Viking Kitty aright quick I suppose.

What a total joke. This woman has redefined the foggy concept of "hero". Noone will watch this fantacy. This impirialistic conquest can not be justified by a female who was injured in a car wreck and captured - then rescued in an empty hospital.

Welcome to FR. Bite me.

so we can't honor true heros anymore.

Well, we do need to continue to honor them. There may not be a lot of us, but we need to do it. They are entitled.

We cannot honor that which we cannot identify. If everyone is special then no one is special.

There is a price for watering down the language -- the inability to differentiate and discern.

Very nicely said.

I just don't think Hollywood should be wading in this end of the pool. That is all I meant to say.

My guess is that this "Austin Red" was responsible for comment #8 which was removed by the moderator. Apparently something about imperialism?

There is a tinfoil documentary that is making the rounds and will be playing Houston soon.

It says that President Bush failed to prevent the 2001 WTC attack because he failed to take the advice to prepare for it. It also says that operatives within the government permitted Al Qaeda to act (they were to be observed by not interfered with).

So could President Bush have done anything? None of the warning that has been made public said that some of the FBI officials were corrupt. If it was such a looming threat, why keep it hush hush? Why not go to the press and say beware of suicidal hijackers?

The left has nothing but will run their tapes for agitprop. They claim that it was all permitted to happen so that we could get into a war. The same documentary reportedly links middle eastern terrorists to the OKC bombing and says that the government covered it up to blame it on right wing extremists. If the end goal was a war in the middle east (a goal that supposedly stretched across several administrations) why cover up such a series act?

I have not seen the film. I am echoing what was in the film's own promotional materials.
