CA: Prop. 54 foes cite effects on medical care
The Contra Costa Times, California ^ | 08-29-03 | Carrie Sturrock

SACRAMENTO - Proposition 54 would make it nearly impossible to study why more white women are diagnosed with breast cancer but more African-American women die from it, say opponents in health care.

The initiative, which would ban the collection of racial data in California, would also hinder efforts to gather information on hate crimes, say those in law enforcement. And it would hamstring efforts to close the educational performance gaps between Latino and white students, say those in education.

I quote from the article: That was discovered only after a San Diego Unified School District youth behavior risk survey found that Filipino girls had a higher rate of suicidal thoughts,.."

Me: White males have had the highest rate of actually committing suicide, and for many years. White males do not have a "box" unless it is a coffin. harumph. Nonetheless, all MS. and NOW studies wailing over the years about "female suicide" were exposed as a fraud. It appears that while females may "talk" about suicide, they hardly ever enact the deed. Whereas, where males might not talk about "suicide" -- they indeed commit the action in numbers the race industry will not talk about unless it is about a "minority" suicide stat. Is the Race Industry's interest racist? Or simply that the idea of "suicide" is more deserving of attention than the deed?

"...would also hinder efforts to gather information on hate crimes..."

As good an argument FOR it as I can think of!

The article excerpt is fascinating. I used auto-excerpt. I get it! Those two first paragraphs "auto-excerpted"? These assertions are UNTRUE about Prop 54.

Actually, Redbob -- this assertion by opponents is false.

Crimes committed are still legally described. Prop 54 will also codify for the first time ever in any state's constitution: No racial profiling. However, all law enforcement practical functions remain. If an individual commits a crime -- their identification is entered onto the crime report. And victim identity is also fully described in the crime report. If racialists wish to collect that data -- they are free to. But arbitrary assignment of "stats" in disparity do not neatly dovetail with racialists' agenda. And that bothers them.

From Prop 54 Website..

"...And finally, in the interest of public health, we have exempted ALL racial categorizations made by health care and medical professionals. Clause (f) of the initiative reads, “Otherwise lawful classification of medical research subjects and patients shall be exempt from this section.” No person’s health care, or any epidemiological studies that reveal disease patterns, will be affected by RPI.

Has there been any polling data on this prop?

They ought to be glad since the more public the "hate crime" is, the more likely it is to be a fake that was staged for the publicity or for the insurance money or to cover a crime.

What's wrong with Prop 54? America in general isn't racist. We're all members of the human race and I'm sorry, but ANY random act of violence BY anyone AGAINST anyone else is a hate crime. We're all human beings.

Only the left is obsessed with race because the left is inherently racist.

The only thing Prop. 54 affects are the South Africa type apartheid style classification check boxes on government forms. Its both fascinating and amusing to see the Left defend a practice straight out of the Dark Ages.

Have to disagree with you here when you say "only the left", it is statistically 100 percent, but that is due to round-off...actually 99.9992 percent of the left is obsessed with race (the other 0.0008 percent believe in talking rocks that communicate with other worlds).

"(the other 0.0008 percent believe in talking rocks that communicate with other worlds)."

You forgot to take overlap into account. The total of racist lefties that ALSO believe in talking rocks that communicate with other worlds is probably at least 12%

"Proposition 54 would make it nearly impossible to study why more white women are diagnosed with breast cancer but more African-American women die from it, say opponents in health care."

Our cancer center thinks it already knows the answer and will be presenting the data to a national breast cancer conference later this month.

Cake_Crumb -- you are right. Clear and succinct! However, let's look at what seems to be going on in the opposition to 54 (same as the old opposition during 29)(below are crib notes from a pal):

• Organizations and professionals dependent on government funding for "race"-conscious studies or research (E.g., university minority studies departments, instructors; numerous recipients of government funding for research on racism, or on social economic or medical health disparities labeled by "race.");

• Drug companies, corporate giants, planning to market "race"-targeted medications to groups whom their advertising may be able to persuade to pay more for it on that basis ("It's tailored to us.");

• Organizations building "coalitions" of "minority" organizations into self-conscious political voting blocs (Umbrella organizations, including the NAACP, have grown under the colors of Multiculturalism, not to protect the voluntary rights of diverse peoples as the name implies, but rather to hold them collectively trapped, as though political pawns in a Marxist social engineer's chess set.);

Where are the WTC anti-globalists, right? Where are the anti-consumer marches? --- Silent.

From the Field Poll of 8/20/3...

Favor- 46%

Oppose- 35%

Undecided- 19%

Remember, it is the Field Poll. The numbers are probably more like 55-30 for.

Yes. From WSJonline, paraphrased: A recent nonpartisan Field Poll shows California voters supporting Prop. 54 by 50% to 29%, "though it is hard to know how its presence on the Gray Davis recall ballot will affect it. Mr. Davis opposes it, and people who think he's been a splendid governor tend to be Prop. 54's strongest opponents".

Prop 54 experienced a recent dip, and then rose again. However, the same phenomena continues to happen as happened during 209 -- Every time Jesse Jackson opens his mouth, or the opposition gets grotty -- the stats in favor of the initiative rise.

OTOH, special interest groups have also been doing some polling data. I've also posted a link to The CA Wellness Foundation at:

LisaAnne -- thank you for posting directly from the 54 initiative website. The opposition has read this data. What I suspect is THEY do not think anyone else will take the time to go to the site and read the data. That is, they will file lawsuits to stall and delay the vote; they will hold special hearings (for opponents only). They will not encourage their "followers" to read and think for themselves. The opponents use "fear" methods. It's the biggest stick they have in their metaphysical baggage and psychologic tyranny of their followers. They will not sit down with 54 proponents and discuss even this, medical, aspect. They will not come forward and show, legally, the books or flowchart of fundings that would support their claims. The very same groups who rail that their "voters" need extra time to "read" and "vote" on the special election recall ballots? Are the same very groups who seem to take undue advantage of their very own "voters" on the issue of "reading".

And therefore you can't yet say? Does this have anything to do with abortions or lots of mammograms? If so, on either score, I've read studies -- and I sure looking forward to seeing the one you refer to. And if not, I'm curious.

I don't want to steal my partner's thunder, but we have found a significant difference between grade of breast cancer in African Americans vs. European Americans. 55% of African American women in our community with breast cancer have high grade tumors (Elston Score 9) whereas less than 30% of European American women have this. The high grade tumors are usually estrogen receptor negative, grow and spread more rapidly, and are less responsive to treatment, stage for stage. There are documented cases of 2 cm. masses showing up in these high grade tumors often after a normal mammogram only 12 months prior. We are now analyzing tissue samples to look at genetic markers which might explain the difference based upon race.
