Bustamante Defends Racist Group
NewsMax.com ^ | 8/29/03 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

California gubernatorial candidate Cruz Bustamante is not only refusing to repudiate the radical "bronze" supremacist organization MEChA, he's defending it.

"The students who are in MEChA today are just like the students when I was there. Pretty much they are trying to get an education," the Democrat lieutenant governor insisted Thursday.

"For me and many, many others, we were running for student government," he said. "That is how I got here today."

Previously his campign told NewsMax.com that his ties to MEChA were a "non-issue" that nonetheless should be addressed.

Official Language OK for Mexico, but ...

Meanwhile, Latino activists who don't object to Mexico having Spanish as its official language say GOP candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger should quit the advisory board of U.S. English, a group that wants to make English the official language of the United States.

"We are tremendously disturbed by Schwarzenegger's continued tenure as a board member of U.S. English, an organization that has strongly advocated for English only and for Proposition 227, which severely limited bilingual education," said Hector Flores, national president of League of United Latin American Citizens, despite the dismal failure of bilingual ed in America.

Schwarzenegger's spokesman Sean Walsh said the actor agreed with efforts to make English the official language.

"Arnold Schwarzenegger came to this country with a few dollars in his pocket and not speaking the English language, and he realized the importance of learning to speak English as quickly as possible to achieve your American dreams," Walsh said.

'Outrageous Things'

Bustamante is not the only candidate being dogged by his past. Schwarzenegger told reporters he had "no memory" of a 1977 interview for the now-defunct Oui magazine in which he was quoted as boasting about group sex and drug abuse.

"I don't know what you are talking about," he said in Fresno when asked about the article. "I'm here to push my economic agenda. I'm here to listen to people. I'm here to have a rally. ... I have no memory of an interview I did 20 or 30 years ago."

Asked about the article during a radio show Wednesday, he replied that he often said "ludicrous" and "outrageous" things.

Rob Stutzman, a spokesman, said Schwarzenegger had said outrageous things in his past, but the "public understands those are decades old."

From the University of Oregon MeCha page sothat we may KNOW OUR ENEMY:

EL PLAN DE AZTLÁN
El Plan Espiritual de Aztlán
In the spirit of a new people that is conscious not only of its proud historical heritage but also of the brutal "gringo" invasion of our territories, we, the Chicano inhabitants and civilizers of the northern land of Aztlán from whence came our forefathers, reclaiming the land of their birth and consecrating the determination of our people of the sun, declare that the call of our blood is our power, our responsibility, and our inevitable destiny.

We are free and sovereign to determine those tasks which are justly called for by our house, our land, the sweat of our brows, and by our hearts. Aztlán belongs to those who plant the seeds, water the fields, and gather the crops and not to the foreign Europeans. We do not recognize capricious frontiers on the bronze continent

Brotherhood unites us, and love for our brothers makes us a people whose time has come and who struggles against the foreigner "gabacho" who exploits our riches and destroys our culture. With our heart in our hands and our hands in the soil, we declare the independence of our mestizo nation. We are a bronze people with a bronze culture. Before the world, before all of North America, before all our brothers in the bronze continent, we are a nation, we are a union of free pueblos, we are Aztlán.

For La Raza to do. Fuera de La Raza nada.

Program
El Plan Espiritual de Aztlán sets the theme that the Chicanos (La Raza de Bronze) must use their nationalism as the key or common denominator for mass mobilization and organization. Once we are committed to the idea and philosophy of El Plan de Aztlán, we can only conclude that social, economic, cultural, and political independence is the only road to total liberation from oppression, exploitation, and racism. Our struggle then must be for the control of our barrios, campos, pueblos, lands, our economy, our culture, and our political life. El Plan commits all levels of Chicano society - the barrio, the campo, the ranchero, the writer, the teacher, the worker, the professional - to La Causa.

Nationalism
Nationalism as the key to organization transcends all religious, political, class, and economic factions or boundaries. Nationalism is the common denominator that all members of La Raza can agree upon.

Organizational Goals
1. UNITY in the thinking of our people concerning the barrios, the pueblo, the campo, the land, the poor, the middle class, the professional-all committed to the liberation of La Raza.

2. ECONOMY: economic control of our lives and our communities can only come about by driving the exploiter out of our communities, our pueblos, and our lands and by controlling and developing our own talents, sweat, and resources. Cultural background and values which ignore materialism and embrace humanism will contribute to the act of cooperative buying and the distribution of resources and production to sustain an economic base for healthy growth and development Lands rightfully ours will be fought for and defended. Land and realty ownership will be acquired by the community for the people's welfare. Economic ties of responsibility must be secured by nationalism and the Chicano defense units.

3. EDUCATION must be relative to our people, i.e., history, culture, bilingual education, contributions, etc. Community control of our schools, our teachers, our administrators, our counselors, and our programs.

4. INSTITUTIONS shall serve our people by providing the service necessary for a full life and their welfare on the basis of restitution, not handouts or beggar's crumbs. Restitution for past economic slavery, political exploitation, ethnic and cultural psychological destruction and denial of civil and human rights. Institutions in our community which do not serve the people have no place in the community. The institutions belong to the people.

5. SELF-DEFENSE of the community must rely on the combined strength of the people. The front line defense will come from the barrios, the campos, the pueblos, and the ranchitos. Their involvement as protectors of their people will be given respect and dignity. They in turn offer their responsibility and their lives for their people. Those who place themselves in the front ranks for their people do so out of love and carnalismo. Those institutions which are fattened by our brothers to provide employment and political pork barrels for the gringo will do so only as acts of liberation and for La Causa. For the very young there will no longer be acts of juvenile delinquency, but revolutionary acts.

6. CULTURAL values of our people strengthen our identity and the moral backbone of the movement. Our culture unites and educates the family of La Raza towards liberation with one heart and one mind. We must insure that our writers, poets, musicians, and artists produce literature and art that is appealing to our people and relates to our revolutionary culture. Our cultural values of life, family, and home will serve as a powerful weapon to defeat the gringo dollar value system and encourage the process of love and brotherhood.

7. POLITICAL LIBERATION can only come through indepen-dent action on our part, since the two-party system is the same animal with two heads that feed from the same trough. Where we are a majority, we will control; where we are a minority, we will represent a pressure group; nationally, we will represent one party: La Familia de La Raza!

Action

1. Awareness and distribution of El Plan Espiritual de Aztlán. Presented at every meeting, demonstration, confrontation, courthouse, institution, administration, church, school, tree, building, car, and every place of human existence.

2. September 16, on the birthdate of Mexican Independence, a national walk-out by all Chicanos of all colleges and schools to be sustained until the complete revision of the educational system: its policy makers, administration, its curriculum, and its personnel to meet the needs of our community.

3. Self-Defense against the occupying forces of the oppressors at every school, every available man, woman, and child.

4. Community nationalization and organization of all Chicanos: El Plan Espiritual de Aztlán.

5. Economic program to drive the exploiter out of our community and a welding together of our people's combined resources to control their own production through cooperative effort.

6. Creation of an independent local, regional, and national political party.

A nation autonomous and free - culturally, socially, economically, and politically- will make its own decisions on the usage of our lands, the taxation of our goods, the utilization of our bodies for war, the determination of justice (reward and punishment), and the profit of our sweat.

El Plan de Aztlán is the plan of liberation!

The most recent pictures I've seen of Bustamante from the waist up indicate that he may very well also hold a membership in La Leche.

This is so '60s!...The Sac State MEChA webpage also points out that they are opposed to assimilation. So, in other words, they are for self-imposed segregation. If a white conservative candidate for anything suggested that latinos should not assimilate into the general society, he'd be branded a racist, and that would be the end of his career. It proves that the safe haven if you're a racist is the Democratic Party.

Republican candidates need to hammer this issue day and night. If they get the word out enough, many blacks will decline to come to the polls to support Bustanazi.

While the libmedia might not want to harm their preferred candidate, I think they'd eventually have to join in after the national media pick up the story. We haven't seen the last of the Mecha story. I'll bet there are plenty of connections between Bustamente and these racist swine that we don't even know about. (Perhaps they continue to this day.)

The students who are in MEChA today are communists, being trained by other central American communist paramilitary groups. Their members are trained to rape the economy of the state, ruin and take over its government, and violent.

They should all be rooted out and tried for sedition and treason. Then the American leaders should be hung in public by the neck until dead.

They are an admixture of all three primacy races (there is great dispute among anthropologists as to how many races there are)to greater and lesser degrees depending on where you are in Latin America.

I understand the basic mixture of so-called"Latin" races to be variations of Asian, European, and Negro. Mexico is, essentially, "Eurasian". The indigenous people being Asian and the rest of the population of Mexico being variations of indigenous and white European. The fact of this mixture should not be lost on educators. If Mexicans are part Asian, there is no genetic impairment to their learning. To the contrary, they should do well. I think this is indicative as to the effect that culture has on a given populations ability to learn. If MEChA wants to duplicate Mexico and its culture of ignorance, they are only spreading the poverty, born of this ignorance, that is South of the border, to the North.

I always got a kick out of MEChA and the various La Raza groups lambasting America's obvious European genesis, and yet they speak a European language. If they were so anti-white and anti European-influence, then why the hell are they not speaking Aztec or Michuahacan?

The US constitution or Mexico's? Bustamante probably doesn't recognise the US constitution as valid.

Seriously, I hope the Republicans in California hammer away at this tratorous A Hole. Imagine a white candidate who belonged to an organization whose stated goal was reestablishement of the Confederacy.

You think it was any better in the 70's when he was in college? A good reporter needs to dig up some info on this group of radicals from the 70's. Whoever debates Bustamante needs to hammer away at this racist. Should cost him lots of black and white votes, as it should.

"They'll end up looking like hypocrites. They've already given Arnold a pass for his indiscretions that were outlined 26 years ago. Going after Cruz for even older transgressions will be seen as strictly partisan unless they hit their candidate with the same medicine.

"Sadly, the same sort of conduct that Republicans condemned with Clinton is now suddenly 'old news' with Schwarzenegger. That hypocrisy is going to be their downfall. "

I don't think the hypocrisy charge is particularly good in this case since Clinton was impeached for his ILLEGAL conduct during a time in which he held a public trust. I'm no Arnold supporter but he didn't betray his oath of office like XXXlinton did.

However, the fact that these things are coming out now should give pause to those here on FR who have enthusiastically embraced Schwarzenegger as a candidate. The Founders warned repeatedly against electing leaders who were dissolute.

Perhaps Arnold's gotten over his past life but it seems to have influenced his policy views re: abortion, homosexuality, etc.

Ideally, I'd like to use the Schwarzenegger name to get elected and then have someone like McClintock running the show. But still, this recall is a bad idea, imho. It divides the Republican party and does nothing to pin the horrible failures of liberal socialism on the Democrats--only on Davis. I think there are some Democrats who actually supported the recall as a way of distracting everyone from the mess that Cruz and his buddies have made of the state.

But it's too late now. The train has already left the station. Now we have to make sure that Gay Davis gets the boot and that Bustednazi doesn't take his place.

Nonsense. Arnold has stated indicated he made mistakes in the past. Bustamante refuses to admit the same. Arnolds past actions are not an immediate threat to the United States. Bustamante's position IS.

Very true. A lot of their material is in English, too. They also don't realize that if it hadn't been for the spaniards, there'd be no Raza to be bigoted on behalf of. No Spaniards=no mestizos.
