[history]
WASHINGTON (AP) - Even as public school classrooms get more diverse, the teaching force remains overwhelmingly white and has its lowest share of men in 40 years, a survey by the nation's largest teacher union finds. Only 10 percent of roughly 3 million teachers are minorities, and just 21 percent are men, the National Education Association report finds. Among students, almost 40 percent are minorities, and about half are male, according to government figures.

Uh oh. I smell some more forced quota programs on the way.

How 'bout private schools? The principal of my kid's private school is a black male.
But I guess because he is a non-union, non-government school employee, he won't get counted.

This is the NEA! There are only three motivators that the NEA has, more money for memebrs, less work for members, and thee, do everything to encourage/increase fairies who are members.
This will have to switch ito a mentoring program where white teachers (those who are burned out in the classromm because they are forced to teach fagitude instead of educate) are used full time to member minority teacher-candidates. It will mean more members/dues, more black teachers, and not a blessed diference to the education of the kids.

Overall, students are most likely to be taught by a 15-year veteran with a growing workload and slightly eroding interest in staying with the profession, the survey finds. O.K. then, kids are being taught by disinterested women who are so overwhelmed that nothing gets done properly.

I taught while my children were in school. Once they were out, I had to earn a real living. It was great when they were young. We basically had the same time off. With two kids in college, I needed more money.

Nope, my dad (the middle school principal) retired seven years ago.

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

I hear from "educator" acquaintances they spend as much time on b.s. paperwork and reports (state and fed) as anything else.

This is the NEA! There are only three motivators that the NEA has, more money for memebrs, less work for members, and three, do everything to encourage/increase fairies who are members. I always say the NEA is interested only in more money, less work and job security, but yours works. Regardless, it doesn't give a rat's a$$ about the kids.
