ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A key focus of the wide-ranging investigation, according to federal law enforcement authorities, is Soliman S. Biheiri, an Egyptian national being held on federal immigration charges. He also has been named by the Justice Department as a material witness in ongoing government terrorism investigations.
Mr. Biheiri operated the now-defunct Secaucus, N.J., firm BMI Inc. and was identified last week in an affidavit by ICE agent David Kane, who said investigators had focused on the "financial relationship between" BMI and a Herndon corporation known as Sana-Bell Inc. The agency also is looking into two Islamic charities, the Muslim World League (MWL) and the International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO), both of Falls Church."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "In the affidavit, Mr. Kane said the MWL and the IIRO operated in separate Falls Church offices but under a umbrella. He said the CIA listed the IIRO as having "extremist connections," including with the Palestinian group Hamas, Algerian radicals and Al-Gamaa Al-Islamiya, the Egyptian terrorist organization that served as a precursor to al Qaeda.
Mr. Kane said the CIA report linked the IIRO to Osama bin Laden as well as convicted terrorist Ramzi Yousef, who was sentenced to life in prison for masterminding the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center. He said the organization helped fund six terrorist training camps in Afghanistan."

INS Ignored Airport Killer’s Possible Link to Terrorists
NewsMax.com: "INS IGNORED AIRPORT KILLER'S POSSIBLE LINK TO TERRORISTS" by Carl Limbacher and the NewsMax.com staff (September 25, 2002)

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The Egyptian immigrant who killed two people and wounded several others at Los Angeles International Airport on July 4 had admitted in 1992 to Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) officials that Egyptian authorities had accused him of being a member of a known terrorist organization, INS officials said Tuesday."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The Times reported that those who have seen his immigration file say that in 1993 Hadayet admitted to the INS that he had been accused by the Egyptians of being a member of al-Gamaa al-Islamiya, or the Islamic Group. The group, the Times explained is classified by the State Department as a terrorist organization which has claimed responsibility for acts of violence in Egypt and has demanded freedom for participants in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Hadayet also told the INS that he had signed a statement for the Egyptian police admitting his involvement with al-Gamaa al-Islamiya before coming to the United States, officials told the Times. But he told the INS that he was not a member of the terrorist group and had only signed a "false confession" under duress, one administration official told the Times. The official added that Hadayet insisted that his only true involvement was with a nonviolent mosque."
